Hi Ladies... new here... need advice on programs

Hi!! So I'm new to this whole idea of getting fit, I haven't even worked out since high school track and ladies, oh how I miss my kick ass calf muscles! I'm bordering on disgusted by my tummy now :( I know having a baby changes it, but my tummy is now just gross why? well because I have been doing nothing but sitting on my butt and taking care of DD and eating sh*t! So I've been looking into programs and recipes and decided soda will no longer be a word in my vocab or a beverage in my fridge and anything fried can kiss my flabby behind!

So please, recommend your program! Would Insanity be okay? I am very out of shape, I'm not a big girl but I get worn out carrying DD in her car seat throughout walmart. I KNOW I can't do P90X... way to intense for me right now.

And and and... any recommendations on a healthy cookbook or collection of recipes?

 TIA :)

Proud babywearing, breastfeeding, vaccinating SAHM of 2U2!

  • I agree, 30 day shred is a good intro to fitness that builds on itself. Also, it only takes 30min so it's time efficient. I also recommend reading the eat clean diet series by Tosa Reno. The principles are a lifestyle change, not a diet so it is easy to incorporate into your family.  Essentially it is a cut the crap out of your diet plan so you can transition slowly like you already plan to. Good luck!

  • I thought Insanity was harder than P90X. Honestly, I'm sure both programs produce fabulous results, but personally I don't have time for 90 minutes of exercise 6 days per week. 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels is great if you are crunched for time. I set aside 2 days per week that I do classes at the gym, then try for another 2 days at home after DD goes to bed. The home workouts are always shorter/easier than the gym ones but, hey ,every bit helps! Also, on days that it isn't raining I walk with DD in the jogging stroller in addition to the workouts. She seems to like being outside and it gets me some extra workout time!

For recipes I have found the best source is Pinterest. EVERYTHING is on there!
