Cloth Diapering

If you air dry CD's...

Does it bother you or your LO that the fabric dries rather stiff?

My DD doesn't seem to mind, but I sometimes feel bad that it isn't softer.

  • My bamboo diapers are the only ones that dry stiff, and DS2 doesn't seem to mind.  But I have contemplated putting them in the dryer for a few minutes just to soften them up.

  • You can prevent a lot of the stiffness by tossing your diapers (or anything you're line drying) into the dryer for 5-10 minutes before hanging them to dry. It's a really great trick to keeping things softer.

  • If you're using fitteds, I recommend a regular Ecover soak. They will be so super soft!!!

I use fitteds 90% of the time, and I just rub the velour together when I'm folding them to lift the nap of the fabric. I do dry the snap in soakers in the dryer, so they are soft. I think the leg casings and back elastic are most important, at least on the diapers we have, to have soft and comfy. This coupled with regular Ecover soaks  =  squishy diapers.
