L&D nurses: How would you react to this?

Suppose a mom came in to have her baby and on her belly there was a note saying

Dear hospital, Please get me out of here. XOXO. Baby

or

My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die

How would you take it? Funny. Lame. Scared of the crazy about to give birth? LMK

i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

Re: L&D nurses: How would you react to this?

  • I'm not an L&D nurse but if I was, I think the first one might be kind of cute but the second one would be way over my head (even though I love the Princess Bride and can quote pretty much the whole movie).  I just don't get why it would be funny in L&D but that's just MO...

  • I was talking with friends last night and we wondered how a nurse we react f she was getting your stomach hooked up to the monitors and then surprise! note from the baby. Those were just two of the examples we thought of.

  • I am an  L&D nurse and I think the first one would be funny, but I don't really get the second one?  That being said I think that if a woman who was laboring had the time/energy to write this on her belly then she is probably not really in labor...just my two cents! :)

  • It's a little odd.
  • The first one might get a single "ha" out of me and the 2nd one makes no sense in regards to baby. I'd probably think you were weird also.
  • I admit it: While I know the reference for the second one, the first one REALLY had me laughing my head off. In fact, my husband now wants to pin a note to my shirt before we go in that reads similarly. THANKS FOR THAT! *LMAO*

  • I think they are both hilarious...the Princess Bride quote is acceptable for use anytime, anywhere...in my opinion. :) It's your belly, do what you want. Labor is serious enough, I don't know why people think you can't have a little laugh about something.

I think it would be lame/sketchy.

  • I'm a NICU RN and find that a little humor goes a long way...I would find the notes very cute. Big Smile

I think this first would get a chuckle out of people.  I don't get the second one though, I haven't seen that movie in forever so I wouldn't get it or what it has to do with giving birth.  If you are going to do one, do the first one.
