Re: Pregnant (& TTC) after Preemie Check-in

  • I'm on bed rest for the next two weeks. My blood pressure was up yesterday, which landed me in l&D for 3.5 hours. I've been having contractions and didn't know it. Currently I'm on procadia (sp) for the next 30 days. I got one steroid shot for the baby's lung and I'm heading back to the hospital tonight for the second shot. I'm really hoping to keep her cooking for the next two weeks. Any extra prayers would be wonderful.

  • *waves* just wanted to stop in while I was online and say hi to my old crew :) jcsntms06, sorry to hear about your bp! Hang in there, mama!

We're doing well here, unfortunately it turns out DD1 isn't the only one to be a peanut...after DD2 was born at nearly 8lbs, I thought she'd be my hefty baby, but she decided after a bout with RSV to take a nosedive down to the bottom of the charts. It was pretty much a flashback to Ellie's weight issues, but this time we knew it was b/c of the breast milk supply (or lack thereof), and unfortunately the new baby just won't take formula like her sister did. So I started taking domperidone (expensive, and tough to get a hold of), and now am on that plus Motherlove More Milk Special Blend and I'm happy to report it's working and she's gaining much better now. They will both be peanuts, but they are happy and healthy!

We're doing well- just a bit bored! DD and I are used to being on the go all the time so it's very strange to be home nearly all the time. I'm thankful that we have a great support system of family, friends, and church.

Hey there! Sorry to hear about the milk supply issues. Sounds like your doing great. Hope you can keep it up.

How did Ellie adjust to her new sister?

Definitely check in when you can!

  • Good luck with your bedrest; hope the next few weeks pass quickly and without issue for you. Full term wishes. Smile

DD had her first real cold this week, plus an ear infection. When I took her to the pedi her regular doc wasn't in so we had to see another doc; it was extremely frustrating when he brushed off my concern for it settling in her chest because of her lungs being small at birth due to all the fluid from the hydrops. Luckily my regular doc is great about her being a preemie so it was only a temporary frustration.

DS is doing great and already proving that he's gonna be a big boy by being 12 lbs already; with him gaining so quickly he's making it more evident how much of a peanut DD really is.

Loving all the updates from our most recent mama's. Glad to hear that little man is doing so well. Hate to hear that your DD had her first cold. This winter has been very mild for us in the East, but germs are definitely still out there. Praying that she starts to feel better soon.
