Preemies

My friend's former preemie is very sick again....

It is completely unrelated to being a micropreemie but my friend's former 25 weeker is suddenly very ill with cancer and facing a long and scary road of treatment and hopefully recovery.

I'm looking for ANY and ALL suggestions and ideas of ways I can cheer her up and remind her that I'm here for here. She has told people that she and her husband need more support this time than they got when he was in the NICU because they are just so heartbroken and defeated this time around.

He was due to get his last RSV shot this month and was going to finally be cleared for play dates, and she was so excited to finally get to enjoy a normal social childhood for him and now he's heading to the pediatric oncology ward. It's just so unfair.

I want to make her some care packages full of little "pick-me-ups" like funny baby books, candies, quotes, jokes, etc and I would love help thinking of some things! TIA!

  • My heart breaks for them.

What about a Sesame Street dvd or a music cd so when they're not feeling up playing they still have something do to.

  • Oh my heartbreaks for your friend. I can not even imagine what they are going through. Pp had a good suggestion regarding Dvds. When my girls were in the NICU one of the best things people did for me was cook meals for us and also a cleaning service (or if you are able) so she doesn't have to worry about her house on top of her LO. I just remembered our neighbors cut out lawn while the girls were in the hospital. That was so great of them and somehing I will never forget.
