Cloth Diapering

CD for one day and...rash

I asked this before, thinking my LO is allergic to the suedecloth in the BG4.0s.  But the consensus was that it's pretty rare, and it was probably an allergy to the detergent.  Yesterday, I put LO in 2 CDs and she got a red rash.  It's mostly along the back waist (where the microfiber goes in), and along her legs in the back.  Nothing in the front.  We use the same detergent for everything - CDs, her clothes, our clothes, sheets, towels....etc.  So if she's allergic to the detergent, would she have reactions to everything?  Or is it just b/c the CDs get wet against her skin when she pees?

Thanks for any tips, I'm just trying to figure this out.

Her pedi diagnosed her with eczema too.  We are treating that by lotioning her during diaper changes.  Would the eczema actually be a detergent allergy?  She has patches on her arms, legs, and body - nothing on her hands, feet, or head/face.

We are using Planet liquid.  We also tried soap nuts.  We can't use powder detergent b/c we have a septic.

  • RNG is septic safe per the company I called to verify. That's what I use and very sparingly as well.

  • Do you have any non-suedecloth CDs?

  • We have a septic and I use powdered detergent.  I just make sure to dissolve it in a little bit of hot water before I put it in the wash.

  • I have never heard anywhere but on here that you can't use powdered detegerent with a septic.

I live in the land of septic systems (very rural area) and everyone I know uses powdered detergent.

    I'd try a new detergent.
Also, is it heat rash? My LO is a naturally warm baby and she gets a heat rash wherever her diaper/pants line is..basically where anything rubs.
