There's a whole lot written on the idea, concept, "fantasy" regarding vbac. All the doctors seem to be on the same page. Wishful thinking. Whatever is quick, easy, and painless for them seems to be the prescription of the day. Anyone ever actually acheive, with the assistance of their doctor and without being made to feel guilty, selfish, or petty?

Re: vbac seems to only be good "on paper"
What?
my docs are all fully on board with me going for a vbac. I am the one who is hesitant, they are all completely supportive of it
I agree with the others. I discussed it with my new OB/gyn at my annual and he was very much in favor of VBACs.
His opinion is the majority of women who try for a VBAC are successful (he said around 75%) so the odds are in my favor and if it ends in a RCS for some reason during labor at least I know I tried and gave it my best shot.
The first OB I interviewed was in a large practice. He was very pro-VBAC but admitted that many of the other doctors were not and I'd be "at their mercy" when I came in to deliver depending on who was on rotation that night.
That said, my midwife that I chose was fully supportive and never had a negative thought on the matter, ever. The trick is finding the person who actually reads the latest literature and takes your safety into account before their convenience.
General statement about every single OB I've spoken to. (12) Maybe it's geography. Maybe it's my age. I need to move to more progressive ground. I'm in the midwest, the attitude here has been pathetic. I don't feel I have a chance.
Ugh, sorry you're having such a hard time.
Would you be willing to consider home birth? Could you travel to a hospital that is VBAC-friendly? Is there an ICAN chapter near you that you can contact?
