How does it work getting preg with twins?
For example... My dads dad, my grandpa had two different sets of twin sisters. My dad and my uncle didn't have any twins. So would it be my turn for twins?
I have no idea how it works I just know thats the only twins on my side so I was curious.
TIA
Re: Question about having twins
Were all the twins on that side of the family fraternal?
The whole "skip a generation" thing isn't really true, so it's not like anyone gets a turn. You can inherit a hyperovulation gene, and that's why twins "run in families."
You won't know until you have an u/s.
Congratulations on your pregnancy.

That, and having sex twice in a row.
My dad and uncle were the only siblings.
and yes they are faternal twins.
I wasnt sure if it was on the girls side of the family or the guys. It seems that its pretty hit and miss and can happen to anyone. Thanks ladies!
my grandmother was a fraternal twin so when people love to ask me if twins run in my family i say yes. it's supposed to be genetic on the female side.
.....however my getting pregnant with twins consisted mostly of shots in the stomach, some lab work, and then more shots in other fun spots!!!
There is a hyperovulation gene that can be passed down on an X-Chromosome only. So here goes, my best explanation of x-linked heritance.
So let's say your paternal greatgrandmother had this hyperovulation gene (which she may or may not have had). She has two x-chromosomes that she could have passed to your grandfather. Let's say she passed the one with the hyperovulation gene onto him. Your grandfather now has one x-chromosome from his mom and a y-chromosome from his dad. Now comes your dad. He received an x-chromosome from your grandmother and a y-chromosome from your grandfather (not the hyperovulation gene carrying x-chromosome). As a female, you received one X-chromosome from your mom and one from your dad. And as I stated above, your dad's x-chromosome is from his mom, who (we're assuming) is not a carrier of the hyperovulation gene.
Don't know if this helps at all. But what it boils down to is that unless your mom is a carrier or your paternal grandmother, then you don't have the hyperovulation gene. BUT you can still have twins spontaneously!
Your siggy pic is to die for. The end.
