Spurred by a discussion with my three-year-old daughter...what gender role would you give the spoon? How about the fork?

She decided that the spoon was the daddy and the fork was the mommy. I'm not sure I could decide, but she played them so convincingly, that I think of it that way now.

Fork and knife are male because they're for insertion.

I'm going to say the spoon is female just for funsies.

This logic is flawed because the spoon can be for insertion, too.

Oh well.

And gender neutral knife makes sense. I mean, it's a knife that can take a boy to a girl or a girl to a boy.

I'm thinking girls like to spoon while guys like to fork, so that's my answer. Justine wins though. Big Smile

I was thinking the same logic for the spoon being female. The forks prongs make me think male.
