I know, I've been absent for a while and now am being a PW! I like to break out my "topics" though, yes, I am type A.
So I have two cats that I love dearly. But lately one of them is making me BONKERS. He didn't act up when I was pg with DD, but this time (maybe he knows what's coming?) he's turned into a total A-hole. I know that he probably needs more attention, but between work, DD, DH and life I just don't have the energy and DH is allergic so can't love on him w/o having a reaction. Anyone experience this? Did it pass once things settled down? I don't want to re-home him but its hard to even enjoy him right now, he's being such a butthole. He's bitten me and scratched DD when she was truly just gently petting him He's inside full time so putting him out is not an option (we live on a fairly busy street). Please tell me this will pass.
Re: PW today - cat people w/more than one kid, come in
Have you taken him to the vet? We had my kitty do this when I was pregnant with T, and he started off like that. His behavior got so bad, we took him to the SPCA for an eval - this was the complete opposite from his temperament. The staff couldn't get near him, they ended up putting him down. Turns out he had a virus that they wouldn't have been able to treat. Not saying your cat has the same reason, but maybe his being a butthole is health related.
Our calico, who is usually b!tchy, can be more so when change happens. She deals, and she gets better once things calm down. But not before letting us know she's pssed at us. I wouldn't put him out either, but I'd be annoyed too.
I'm sorry, I have no advice. My cat is the mellowest house cat on the planet.
I agree with GT though, maybe take him to the vet.
Good luck!

My cat has been more than a little annoying since DS came into the picture. It was just us girls for many years, and then DH had to come and take her side of the bed, and now there is a really LOUD, grabby, unpredictable interloper in the family. It's no wonder that a furry girl is at her wit's end. I try to be patient and give her lots of attention, though sometimes it's hard. She has been really needy since DS and follows me everywhere.
I think after a trip to the vet just to make sure all is ok, I guess I would just try to give kitty more attention. When you're watching tv, or nursing the new LO, give a few pats to kitty. I know we get wrapped up in our lives, but our furbabies are part of the family too.
