Starting last week DS has stopped liking being swaddled, he likes having his arms so as soon as I swaddle him he just wiggles out, so now I just tuck a blanket around his bottom half, I feel like he slept better swaddled though!

I'm in the same boat... except my guy isn't even 3 weeks yet. He always gets his arms out and if I somehow manage to get him wrapped tight enough to keep his arms in he twists and fights to get out.

We still swaddle. I have tried to put her down without being swaddled and she only sleeps about 30 minutes. Now that she is rolling over I really want to get her to sleep without being wrapped up.

Our LO has busted her hands out of swaddles from the get go but then we read Happiest Baby on the Block. It explains that just because they break out of a swaddle or wrestle with it doesn't mean they dislike being swaddled... they don't even have that much voluntary control over what their arms do yet.
Around 3 months old they can choose to put their hands in their mouth or whatnot and have the physical control to do that, but before that their arms if out are more likely to just flail and upset them. The key, it said, was to swaddle very very tightly.
My DS started breaking through his swaddle blankets around that age but I also felt like he slept better swaddled. We switched to the Miracle Blanket and it solved the problem. He is unable to break free in this blanket and sleeps so much better.

We rock a half swaddle in a "Swaddle Me" at bedtime in the RnP and it works great. She is 2 weeks old and being able to suck her thumb comforts her, and I want to make sure she has access to them
This. Our baby is getting pretty close to the 3 month mark and we still do it. We just actually bought a larger Halo swaddle sack for him to keep his arms in. We couldn't seem to get him tight enough to stay in the swaddle using a blanket so we switched to the Halos and it works much better (Halos also seem to work better for us than the Summers swaddling thingys, though we used to use the Summers sometimes).
Swaddle still works great for us. DD grunts like she is trying to break out when I first put her down at night, but then after a few minutes she settles down and goes to sleep. I only swaddle her at night though.
We are using the summer swaddles at night and I try to leave her unswaddled during the day to 'practice' sleeping with her hands out, but if she is too restless I swaddle her up.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
We use the halo sleep sack and DD loves it. I have tried to put her down eithout being swaddled and she sleeps for about 45 mins. With the swaddle she sleeps for 5 or so hours at night.

my little man is 7 weeks and still swaddles. swaddling is a God send! my little man would wake himself constantly when he wasn't wrapped up like a burrito.when i first tried swaddling i would wrap him up while he was awake and he would not have it, he would fight until his hands were free. so now i prepare to swaddle him for naps or bedtime and wait to enclose his hands until he's pretty sleepy or asleep. it works like a charm!
We still swaddle DS at nighttime and he manages to get his hands out every night. But the hospital said that it's better for their development for them to have their hands out so they can touch their face.

We're using the halo sleep sack too. DS will sleep about 4 hours swaddled at night. We'll swaddle as long as possible (until he starts rolling over).
Babies R Us and some other places sell Infant Swaddlers. They are wonderful for little wigglers. They are blankets with a closed bottom and velcro to held the blanket in place. They were very helpful to me within the first few weeks.
