anyone else try the Belly Bandit?

Am I the only idiot who got sucked in and thought this was a good idea?

https://bellybandit.com/store/p-53-kourtney-kardashian-limited-edition-belly-bandit.aspx (beware, the model on the website is seriously frightening looking)

I have tried to wear this thing but it is just not remotely comfortable. And beyond the discomfort issue is that when I wear it while I have a bra on (which is all the time), I get a nice ring of back fat sticking out below my bra line and above the belly bandit.

I think I'd rather walk around with a baby belly for a bit longer than a deformed looking ring of fat around my upper back.

Re: anyone else try the Belly Bandit?

  • yes, I bought it after I had DS as I didn't know about it for DD and I loved it! I wore it all the time and I feel like it really helped, plus I had a c-s.

PS: your ticker says you are one day past due:)

  • I wore mine for 6-7 weeks and loved it. It really helped my back pain too.

  • I wore it. Mine was uncomfortable because I have a short torso, so it actually pushed up under my boobs and, I think, contributed to some plugged ducts.

BUT! It totally works. My stomach got much flatter, sooner than, uh, other moms who haven't used it, not that I've noticed.

Maybe that back fat thing is . . . incorrect placement? I don't know. But I really liked it.

Oh and it also helped with that whole "organs flopping around in your torso" feeling and general core strength (eg, it helped getting out of bed and stuff).

  • Thanks for posting about this.  I was planning on getting one since I know I'm having a C section this time.  When did you ladies buy yours?  I'm about 36 weeks right now.  I want to make sure I get the right size.  Thanks so much, Jenn
  • Well, I have a brand spankin' new one--the bamboo one size small that I have NEVER worn.  We moved 3 times at the end of my last pregnancy and it got misplaced in a box and I found it recently.  Everyone I talked to raved about it so I bought it but I have no review obviously since I never had the chance to wear it.  So if anyone is interested in getting a new one for 1/2 price let me know! :)

  • I absolutely believe this is a MUST if you have a c-section. The discomfort is worth not having to feel like your lower abdomen is going to bust open every time you move.

But for those who didn't have a c-section, I can see where it would seem somewhat useless and where it may be uncomfortable.

  • I bought the medela version of one post c-section.  I actually thought the hospital might give me an abdominal support band since I had a section. Silly, silly girl.  Had my husband run to BRU and buy one.  It is the best single thing I had post section for back and abdominal support.  Like others I also think my stomach was flatter sooner, etc.

Oh man, that's for sure.  I had the medical supply store version of one (months into my c/s incision not healing debacle) and it was amazing for both helping my body heal and sucking in my stomach blub enough to fit into my old clothes after about 6 weeks with it.  It was uncomfortable in a way, but the benefits far outweighed the discomfort for me.  Can you wear it lower or higher to avoid the back fat problem?  Or close it on an angle so that it's a little looser on top and doesn't squish up your back?

  • I didn't have a c-section but I used one from Motherhood (and it wasn't nearly as pretty as that one!).  I felt like it really helped to kind of hold everything in around the middle, and made me feel comfortable in clothing when I wasn't home in pj's.

  • I used a less expensive version that I got from amazon, but I really liked it. Maybe you need to loosen it a little?

  • I used a different version, but I thought it was really helpful.  I had a c/s and thought it helped so much with getting up and down/moving around and not feeling like my insides were moving all over the place.  The fit on mine was kind of like a super high-waisted brief, so I had the dreaded back fat issue.  Even though that was super annoying to me, the benefits outweighed the cons.

maybe...or maybe I just have back fat :-( lol...

I guess I'll try to give it another shot since so many people had good outcomes with it!

  • make sure you got the correct size, too.
