Make it stop!
My co-worker was talking about how she wanted to buy DD some shoes over the weekend...she wanted to buy some pink Jordan's but her man so no- she needed Toms. So now I'm obsessing over the adorable Toms- I've look at their website and then Nordstroms website for them. Well now that has carried over into shoes for her period...Payless, Macy's, etc...I want to go shoe shopping but for her! Must.step.away.from.computer!
And the kicker? She's never worn shoes! lol...she has a pair of red Nike mary janes but I think they are still too big for her.
Re: I'm getting shoe fever...for DD!
DD never had shoes until she was standing/cruising in public places. Really, she didn't start wearing them regularly until she was walking.
And then ... I try to get the "correct" shoes like Pedipad, Striderite, See Kai Run, etc. Once you narrow it down to those, you have far fewer choices and THAT saves you money
I alternate between her black pair and white pair and that's it. They're cute, they're safe for her feet, and they do the job.
That said ... I only have one or two pairs of shows that I wear regularly. So I'm not exactly a shoe fanatic.
I love tiny kid shoes! Ben loved shoes from the get go but he was a late walker and went right into striderite sneakers.
Molly started walking at 10.5 months but hated shoes. She'd pull them off as soon as I put them on her feet. She's now had a pair of pedipeds for about a month and loves them. They're these:

i've been tempted to get DS his first pair of chucks, but until he's walking, i don't want to spend the money. even then, we just got a ton of hand-me-down shoes from my sisters in near-new condition (which tells me that they outgrow them really fast!).
just close the browser window! don't be tempted!!!
One of the great tragedies of my life was when I tried to stuff A's huge ham foot into a Tiny Tom. She has a layer of fat on top of her foot, much like a piece of sushi on a bed of rice. No matter how big the Tiny Tom, I just couldn't cram her foot in there.
I waited until I was in my car to cry.
I'm trying not to laugh at your tragedy...but oh my- the sushi description!
