Plymouth

We are moving to Plymouth near 55 & 169 soon.  It's been a long time since I've lived in the western suburbs (grew up in Maple Grove in the late 80s, early 90s...which was nothing like what it is now!) & am completely out of touch with where everything is & what there is to do.  Any recs on parks, restaurants, shopping, entertainment, family friendly activities, etc... would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Plymouth

  • Well, you'll be close to a ton of shopping areas! West End (newish area near 100 and 394), Ridgedale, and Arbor Lakes (Maple Grove) come to mind. I know there is a big regional park in Maple Grove that I think is French Park, but I could be wrong. Good luck with your move!

  • There is the Maple Grove Indoor Playground.  I have never been but my SIL took her kids when they were in town and she said it was great for her 1 yr old and 5 yr old!

  • If you are into outdoors activities - French Park is in Plymouth and is a nice smaller regional park, Elm Creek is in Maple Grove and is the largest regional park of the Three Rivers Park District and it has a HUGE new outdoor playground for kids and a man-made swimming hole with a sandy beach to enjoy in the summer months; there is also an indoors playground at the Maple Grove Community Center.

  • We just bought a house in Plymouth last year, we are right off 494 & 394 and love it here! There is so much to do around here (compared to living in Spring Park/Mound area). We aren't super familiar with parks yet because this is our first baby, but we do go walking/biking around Parker's Lake, which is just off County Road 6. There is also the Luce Line Trail which is mostly paved.

As far as restaurants, we love Jade Fountain for Chinese Food (in Wayzata), Sakana for sushi (in Wayzata as well). Red Robin will be super close to you guys, they have great burgers for cheap. We also really like The Blvd, which is off of Hopkins Crossroad & 394, right by Michael's. They are a little spendier but they have amazing lobster mac and cheese and also hand cut french fries with truffle oil.

Welcome back to the area :)
