I had GD with DS a few years ago... and I still have my glucose meter and some test strips- so I've been randomly testing... seems my fasting number (today only, haven't tested it before) is high- 99. And an hour after dinner last night it was 146.
Is it possible that these numbers will level off since I'm still early in my pregnancy? Or is it likely that I have GD again?
I have my first prenatal visit this AM- just with the nurse, not dr... so I'm sure she'll tell me when I'll get tested- but I'm just curious as to when you were tested and dx with GD (primarily 2+ mamas)
TIA!!
Re: Mamas of 2+: GD related (xp)
If you have GD once, it's likely you'll have it again. My sister had it with all 3 of her pregnancies. She actually refused the glucose test with her third b/c she could tell she had it and just asked to be put just on the diet and testing her levels everyday, etc.
GL hun! Did they give you an early GTT? I had one in 1st tri with #2 and this baby b/c I've delivered two 9+ pound babies. I passed (and never actually had GD with either of my first two) but they like to test early anyway.

Thanks, girl. Yes, I know it's a higher chance of having GD again- but I am holding out hope because my former boss had it with her first... but not with her second!! She's of a similar stature to me, as well...
I have my FIRST appt in a half hour- with the nurse... so I won't hear the h/b or anything like that but they will take my blood (so I guess check my levels there but no sugary drink). And I'm sure we will discuss when I will have the 1 hour test.
GD absolutely sucks... I was hoping that I could enjoy indulging this pregnancy... FX that I am still able to LOL.
oh- and DS was 8lb12oz
I am borderline diabetic.... and i had GD the first time, I don't want it this time. Please god no!!!
I had it with #1 so when I went in to do all my blood testing a few weeks ago, they did a blood draw to test my sugars as well. I passed so they said they wouldn't worry about it again until the 28th week like all pregnancies.
I was think that your doctor would do something similar to see if its cause for concern now or not until your further along.
I've lost 80lbs since my last pregnancy so I'm really hoping I can avoid it this go around, but I realize weight isn't the only factor
