2nd Trimester

Anybody else have a quiet baby?

My little man is not a very active baby (26.5 weeks). He has his days- but hes just not a mover and shaker like it seems alot of other babies are.

I felt flutters at 20 wks, kicks at 21-22, and fairly consistent movement 24+

I think theres alot contributing to him being "quiet." I have an AP, the baby is folded alot, and Im not a tiny little thing either. The baby seems to wake me up alot in the morning and sleeps all day. It just freaks me out!

Anybody else have a quiet one? I feel so left out!

Re: Anybody else have a quiet baby?

  • I only feel a few little kicks per day. Maybe one first thing in the morning, sometimes one around lunch time, and a couple each night. I haven't felt any other movement besides the little kicks, like rolls or flips or the baby moving. I'm guessing we'll get there when baby runs out of room! I have AP too. I have been reading about kick counts, and can't imagine what it's like to feel 10 kicks/movements in two hours!!!

  • My baby is usually active. But I noticed that there are days were he's quieter but than is even more active the next day...I think it just depends where he is...I have an anterior placenta so maybe on the days I think he's quiet, he's just kicking the placenta, therefore I don't notice?
  • My LO is pretty quiet throughout the day while I'm walking around/working but when I go home and cuddle up on the couch she's all over the place. She kicks like crazy when I'm not moving, it seems. I've heard some women say it's because when you're moving around it's kind of like a rocking or soothing sensation for the baby so (s)he falls asleep. When you're holding still or at least relaxed the LO might be more inclined to move around.

  • Thanks for the reassurance! Hes been twitchin around in there while I played on the bump. Maybe him not being a crazy monkey means that means he'll be calm when hes out :) -maybe...

  • Some days she is very quiet & other days she's active. I don't know if that's just because she has been so little it's sometimes hard for me to feel it or because she's just quiet, like you said.

I guess I'll find out in the weeks to come.

  • I still can't feel this baby yet, but I have had 6 u/s so far.  In the past 4 u/s they were expecting to see movement...but we only saw movement on that last 2.  The dr told me...oh the baby must be taking it's nap.  And then the u/s tech at 12 weeks said the same thing....I was like, no!  you have to make it move!!  Eventually we got a little wiggle.  I went again at 14 weeks and saw a little more wiggle, but nothing like ds.  He was wild in every u/s.  The u/s tech said she liked this calm baby...it was easy to measure.
