Baby Shower Hostess Gifts

Ok so we have been spending a lot of money on all these occasions we have coming up (bridal showers, birthdays, bachelorette parties, etc) and on top of that I have 3 showers with 3+ people hosting each one. So on top of all the regular yearly gifts we buy for our extremely large family (we both have divorced parents) I now have to buy 10 baby shower hostess thank you gifts.
I have already bought the ones that my side is hosting, but for the others I was thinking of making something. I am somewhat crafty and as the other people that I have to get thank you gifts for are big wine drinkers I was thinking of making them wine related items (cork coasters and trivets as well as pretty designed bottles). I can buy the cork in bulk and I am having the bottles donated so it is really just a little bit of art supplies and my time.
Opinions on if this is a good idea...it is just so hard to buy gifts especially for hubby's side of the family and he isn't really any help.

Honestly, I don't think a gift is absolutely necessary, but what about a nice thank you note. You could even add an invitation to dinner at your house one night! They can see the nursery all set up?!? and it will keep your expenses low.
FWIW, I made little containers of candies for my hostesses and gave thank you notes, it was simple, sweet (literally) and easy for me!
That's what I would do, especially if I had to go the cheap route.
