I can't STTN even though LO does

DS has been sleeping wonderfully this past week or so. He goes to bed around 10 pm and will sleep until 3:30-4 am. I'll feed and change him and then he'll sleep from about 5 am to 8 am. After his 8 am feeding I usually cuddle with him in my bed and snooze until 10-11 am because I'm not ready to get up.

I just can't seem to get on LO's sleep schedule. Even though he goes down at 10 I usually don't actually get to bed until 11 and then don't fall asleep until midnight. Then for our night feeding by the time he goes back down I'm wide awake and it takes me at least another hour to fall asleep after he does. Last night I didn't sleep at all between his night and morning feeding!

How on earth do I train myself to sleep when he does? I know I'm lucky that he's been sleeping so well lately but I hate myself for not being able to take advantage of it!

  • I hope you are careful when you are co sleeping in your bed, and have something made for co sleeping to put him in.  Many infants have died by sleeping in the bed with their parents.

  • I don't have any advice but I sympathize. I am still in the phase where is is only sleeping max 4hrs at time but I find it hard to just go to sleep when he does at night.

Please be careful with the language you use; it's alarmist and can do more harm than good. So that you know, there are an average of 64 such deaths per year. 80% were because of waterbeds and unsafe beds that had gaps/spaces around the bed.

Yeah I appreciate the sentiment but whether or not bed sharing is safe realy wasn't the point of the post. I am safe when I do it because I'm well aware of the dangers.
