I have a very small bedroom and I am not bed-sharing with the baby at all. I know that the baby needs to be in the same room with me but I am concerned about where he will sleep. I have room for a bassinet, craddle, or a rocking sleeper. My only other option is to sleep in the baby's room and put him in his crib asap. We have a twin bed in there also so it could accommodate me.
I have read that bassinets are not all that recommended now, nobody uses craddles that ive talked to, and the rocking sleeper seems to squish the baby.
Any suggestions? Anyone use a craddle? I guess that is what I would lean towards.
Re: Craddle/Bassinet/Rocking Sleeper???
DS slept in a bassinet next to our bed but DD hated it. She only wanted to sleep in her swing or carseat (basically a reclined sitting-up position.) That lasted all of about 2 days before I went out and bought the FP Rock-N-Play which is approved for sleeping at night. It was one of my greatest baby purchases. DD slept like an angel in that thing for the first 6 months. It's also super easy to fold up and travel with, so we ended up taking it everywhere.
I'll try a bassinet again, but I'm sure this baby will end up in the RNP again too.

I haven't heard that a bassinet isn't recommended but we are using a bassinet before moving her to her crib.
I read reviews that the rocking sleeper is great to put kids to sleep but the problem is that babies can only then fall asleep in the rock and play or because how it's position can give them a flat head.
If she doesn't do well with the bassinet our option will be crib. At that point who knows, I'm hoping she's easy going!!
I've heard of a lot of people having success with the PNP... but if room is an issue I would stick with a bassinet or a cradle probably JMO.
I have never heard this either. I would do bassinet or crib. we usually co -sleep though too. so I always have the crib for daytime naps an dthen co sleep or baby starts out in crib at night is what we do/did, are doing
Fisher Price RNP. Most bassinets have a weight limit of 15 lbs, the RNP is 25lbs which is great for larger babies.
You could also look into the arms reach co-sleeper.

I'll like you for always.
As long as I'm living,
my baby you'll be."
Could you fit one of the smaller IKEA cribs, in your bedroom? Or a pack n play? Then you're not having to buy something you can only use for a few months.
Even one of the smaller cribs will be plenty big enough to accomodate your LO until they transition to a "big kid" bed.
We set up our (full size) crib last weekend and my (almost) 6 yr old, immediately climbed in and laid down. He had plenty of room and could have slept in there, if we had allowed it. I was quite suprised...and he's not small for his age, or anything.
Either way, I'm sure you'll get it figured out. GL!
The AAP recommends room-sharing for the first yr of baby's life. They feel it significantly reduces the risk of SIDS and better facilitates breastfeeding.
With DS I had his crib in my room for the first 6 months, but transitioning him to his own room was hard not only for me, but for him too. He slept through the night for a while and the night we moved him to his own room he woke up in the middle of the night for a while before I did the cry it out method one night.
With this baby we will be getting the rocking sleeper for our bedroom at least for a few months, but the LO will sleep in the crib for naps. Crib will STAY in baby's bedroom.
