Im trying to decide If I want to purchase a double stroller or not.
DS is still in his stroller but will be 2.5 when #2 is born. I dont know how much longer I can keep him in the stroller for lol. I dont know If I should just buy a baby carrier and use that for the newborn and continue using the regular stroller for DS... or buy a double.
I have the Chicco Key fit infant carrier and Have NO CLUE if it will even fit on a sit and stand double stroller.
Anyone have suggestions? or want to share what you do? thanks!
Re: Baby Carriers moms of 2+
i'm in a similar boat. my DS will be 3 when this baby is born. for the first few weeks i'm going to plan to use my regular stroller for DS and put the baby in the moby carrier. Then i will definitely be getting a double stroller. I live in Chicago and walk EVERYWHERE. DS likes to walk on his own, but for sure can't keep up with the speed and distance we go for errands and exercise walks so i will need a way to strap him in and get both kids out the door. I'd be getting one now but the one I want to check out comes out in July anyway, so I'll see that in person before committing.
i think it will depend on where/what kind of walking you plan to do too. But i have a friend who says even her 5 year old will occasionally pop into the double stroller if they've had a long day out at the zoo/aquarium/etc.
frozen transfer a success! boy #2 via VBAC
I would be using it for just "recreational use" lol
Walks, boardwalk, malls, zoos, etc...
Im torn because I dont know If I should wait to get like a side by side double stroller, or if I should get something compatable with my infant carrier...
DS and DD were only 17 months apart, so I obviously bought the double stroller. Even when I chose to wear DD, it was really nice to have the double to carry the diaper bag or lay her down for a minute if I needed to.
They're 3 1/2 and 2 now, and we still use our double quite a bit. It's an absolute must have if you travel, imo - I couldn't get them through the airports without it. We use it when we go to the mall, the zoo, on long walks where one or both will likely get tired of walking, etc. I think you might be surprised by how long your DS will use it. DS does like to get out and walk now, but he will always get tired out (or start misbehaving) and the stroller is a lifesaver.
I'm not a fan of the sit and stands at all. We have a Bumbleride Indie Twin and it's been perfect. It accommodates quite a few brands of car seats.

You will find that most double strollers will not accept the keyfit (at least it didn't a couple years ago). We struggled finding a double that would work when we had DD2 and the one that did fit (the contours) was huuuuge and literally took up our entire trunk.
I personally would see what you could get now as a double stroller. I think 2.5 is still really young to let independently walk all the time and I would for sure not give up being able to use the carseat for when baby is sleeping.
Our solution wasn't perfect but we juggled between me just going out with one kid and using our single stroller/travel system, going out with both and either using the carrier for one of our daughters (we have the ergo) or taking DD2 out of her carseat and laying her in the "bed" of our double stroller (the Phil & Teds with doubles attachment). It was really disappointing not having more double stroller options with the Keyfit. Hopefully that has changed.
Agreed.
We also have the BumbleRide IndieTwin and really love it. When DD was born, DS was only 22 months, so we knew he'd ride in a stroller for a while yet. We've gotten a ton of use out of it, and DS, at almost 4 years old, still uses it on occasion. And now, obviously we'll get use out of it for DD and the new LO. Had DS been almost 3 or older, we may have looked more seriously at sit'n'stands. I like the idea of them, but they seem so bulky to me. I think it depends on your lifestyle and your LO but in my experience there always seems to be occasions or reasons to both let DS walk, and let DS ride. As pp mentioned, even if they like walking, they may get tired on longer trips (the zoo, etc), or misbehave in other situations (shopping, etc), and having a seat is a real life saver.
With regards to the BumbleRide Indie Twin, we love it. It's a side by side, which we like, b/c the LOs dont fight about or get upset about who sits in the front or back. The seats are roomy, but the stroller as a whole is narrow enough for normal doorways, etc. It has good storage, nice reclining backs, large sun shades, great height- adjustable handle, and folds/unfolds easily. And my favorite feature? The large, air-filled wheels that make pushing, steering, and turning so easy!
DS was 22m when DD was born so we knew we'd need a double. We have the Baby Jogger City Mini double stroller and LOVE it. It's amazing.
Anyway, even now at 3.5, DS loves the stroller and strolling along with his sister. Sure, sometimes he gets out and walks, but he at least has the option. He likes to do whatever his sister is doing and I think that's how most kids are.
I'd say you'll likely need it. GL!

DS1 and DS2 are only 15 months apart I had to have a double stroller. I will like our city select b/c its a double or single. it does fit the keyfit as well which is what we have. I also have a double bob that I use for running.
DS1 still likes to ride especially if we have to take DS2 to the doctor which has happened a lot lately. DS1 will happily ride in the stroller and doesn't freak out about the doctor as long as he's strapped in.
