Attitude

Whitney really has an attitude when I don't give her what she wants. For example...I left my cell phone within her reach. When I went to take it, she sobbed, then threw her arms up and did a few punch motions like she wanted to take me DOWN.

Anyone else?

Re: Attitude

  • DD threw herself on the floor and lay face down pounding her arms cartoon temper tantrum style yesterday. I can't remember if she wanted my cell phone or to continue eating the brush that FIL uses to groom their cat. When I see that behavior, I feel anxiety about her teenage years.

JT did this just today. I don't even know what was pi$$ing him off either - he went from happy to meltdown in 5 seconds out of nowhere. I was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING AND WHY????????"
  • Oh geez, don't get me started.  LOL  He has a such a bad attitude..it drives me nuts.

  • Oh yeah, we have major attitude problems here too.  Sometimes she'll get mad when she can't have something or can't get her way and clench her fist, get all tense, and do one of those "ugghhhhh" kind of noises while other times she'll just start screaming.  It ranges from things like I shut the fridge door so she can't take everything out to she get's mad because all of the milk in the sippy cup is gone.  She also gets mad when my hands are on the handle of the shopping cart sometimes while I'm pushing it so shopping can get pretty interesting.  She doesn't care where she is either so we've gotten a bunch of comments from strangers about how we're going to have our hands full with this one.

  • p is the same way, we go from happy boy to maniac in seconds when he doesnt get his way. i try not to react b/c i'm figuring he's just putting the feelers out for what he can get away with but it's getting harder to not do anything about it. his thing is hitting people when he doesnt get his way

  • James all the way, seriously all he wants to do lately is go outside which I love but it hasn't been warmer then 38 degrees lately and way windy. When I say no its too cold, he sits down all dramatic like, throws his arms in his lap and fake wails for about 10 seconds then gets bored when I just walk away and starts trying to open the back door. He is one going on the terrible twos already!

  • Yep. She freaks if she sees the phone and can't touch it, if I was holding her and then put her down, if anyone is preparing any food or drink in the kitchen (whether she's hungry or not), etc. I'm getting *really* good at tuning it out, lol.

  • Nah, my kid is sweetness and light. Lolol.

My favorite right now is that she loves music, and will flip. Her. Sh*t during the gap between songs on the radio. When the next song comes on, she's all smiles again. Manipulative little jerk.

  • Mine puts his hand out - a compbination of pushing you away/saying talk to the hand.  He gets mad when he encounters a closed door or I put the gate up at the bottom of the stairs because I am tired of chasing him up them & sits there and cries thinking I will move the gate or open the door to let him play in the bathroom.

My older one pulled the trying to hit me while I was pushing the grocery cart & crying so I pulled the cart from the other end all of the way through the store to finish my shopping and show him we were not leaving just becaues he wanted to.  He never did that again.

  • Yep. When he doesn't get what he wants he usually cries and starts throwing things that are close to him. Most of the attitude I get is dinner time, He wants to tell me what he wants to eat, which is cookie... No sir your not having cookies for dinner....

  • Aiden started the "terrible 2's" at 15 months. Emily has been going strong since 11.5 months. She is a total diva when she doesn't get her way. The girl can scream. We've started time outs but she could care less. Usually just distract her if possible.

  • DS starts whining anytime someone is cooking, in the kitchen, or near food.  The boy likes to eat and has no problem letting you know it.
