TTC After a Loss

Got a call from the doctors office today

My genetic results on the baby are in. However they can't fit me in until March 7th!!! I am going to call tomorrow and see if they can fit me in last minute if there are any cancellations since I am not at work right now anyways.

I am really nervous for them. I don't know what I want to happen. Sometimes I think that another triploidy result would be good because that is supposed to be a 'fluke' but then I am worried because I did read one study that said they had identified a pattern and that some women were having recurring triploidy babies. I think if nothing is wrong, I am going to feel like it's something that I did. If it says a different genetic anomoly, I will also worry about it happening again. I am not sure if my gp would do karyotyping for dh and I.. I don't know if its common in Canada.

I know last time, I was really upset when I found out that my baby was a boy, it sort of re-opened the wound I guess? At the same time though, I do want to know, and don't know if they will tell me. Last time they told me because it was part of the diagnosis (Triploidy XXY)

Re: Got a call from the doctors office today

  • I hope they are able to get you in now that the results are back.

We are waiting on ours and while we chose to have them run, I definitely am kinda dreading the results as well....especially finding out what the baby's gender was. I think the best thing to do is try and look at it like another step forward in the process and take it as it comes.....I know that sounds way easier then it actually is!

  • I forgot to mention in my op, but after I got over the initial shock at finding out the baby was a boy, I am now comforted by it. I feel like it have him his own little identity, even though I opted not to name him.. I just think of him as little Rabbit now.

  • I am sorry you have to wait so long to hear the results.  I hope your doc has a cancellation or finds some time to fit you in before then.  I'll keep you in my T&P that you get some answers that will help you in your healing process.  I don't have any experience personally with karotyping, but it certainly doesn't hurt to ask your doc about it.  If your GP won't/doesn't do it, maybe its time to see a high risk OB?  GL to you.

  • I hope they can see you earlier, it must be horrible having to wait.

  • I know exactly what you mean by not know what you want to hear from the results.  I dreaded my appointment to find out the results and I did blame myself after.  I know that I did not really do anything that caused it, but it is hard not to blame myself.  I kept saying that I would rather it be bc of x y or z, but in the end, it really is just a learning experience that hopefully can help build a plan for the next pregnancy.  What ever your results are, I hope that you can find peace in them over time.  ((HUGS))

    PgAL/PAL Welcome

  • I hope that they can squeeze you in early. It would be so hard to have to wait for that information when you know it's available.  I also hope that you get some answers and that whatever the case may be, you can find some comfort in knowing.  But PLEASE do not feel like you did something wrong if they don't find anything specific! As well all know, this process is hard enough without putting that heavy burden on yourself!  I'm sure that you did the best you could (we all did).  Sometimes it's just not in our hands.

  • I hope that your dr can get you in sooner than 3/7.  That sounds like an eternity to wait to get your results
