Ok Ladies my DH and I love the idea of using the name Isla but we know people are probably gonna butcher the name. So we're thinking about using it as a middle name but we're having a hard time finding a first name that sounds well with it. Any suggestions?

    Yes like it! Who cares if people butcher it its so pretty and you'll just have to correct people but I think its worth it if you love the name :)

    Honestly, I don't think it's that difficult if people have any grasp of the English language (this island) and even so, once someone is corrected once they will catch on.

    I think Isla is a beautiful name.  I-LA.  Easy enough.  And for those who don't know how to pronounce it they will probably only need to be told once.  The first time I ever heard this name I mispronounced it but only had to be told one time the right way to pronounce it and haven't had any problems since.

    Isla is our top choice for a girl right now.  I love it...pronounced eye-la, but I do anticipate people getting it wrong if they aren't familiar with it.  It sort of goes against our  #1 naming rule of  1. must be easy to spell and recognizeable (i.e. Reed and Pierce) hahah Oh well, still love it. 

    We will be using Isla Beryl (Beryl is a very special family name and it is pronounced like Pearl with a  B).  I would suggest:

    Isla Pearl

    Isla Jane

    Isla June

    Isla Maeve

    the thing is we live in deep south texas so we know people will be trying to pronounce it in spanish (saying the "s"). I do think that once we correct people they will never get it wrong though.
