Went to Motherhood Maternity Store and the lady was telling me that I should be sleeping in a bra. That just seems super uncomfortable to me since I am pretting small to begin with. Do you normally sleep in a bra during pregnancy?
Also they were pushing me to buy all medium clothes when they fit just perfect right now and I know that there is no way they will last to the end of my pregnancy. Does anyone buy one size larger so it will fit later in pregnancy?
Re: Sleeping in bras?? Maternity clothes size question?
I've always slept in a bra but I've got bigger boobs and it's uncomfortable for me to not sleep in one.
I don't typically buy a size up unless my normal size is running on the snug side or is already the perfect length for my belly. But I usually don't buy things that are super baggy or tent-like. If the size up looks acceptable then go for it though.
I don't sleep in a bra either. I was really small before but am bigger now, but still I don't feel the need to sleep in a bra.
I bought the size that fits now in all my pants but bought up a size in all the tops. They were a little baggy to start off but already most are fitting pretty good. I bought mostly tops in super stretchy fabric so I should be ok.
Yeah they keep pushing it but those bras are itchy. I bought the size that fit because I can not stand wearing clothes that make me feel like I'm living in a tent.
Motherhood boasts about it helping your milk come in sooner but I started leaking 3 days after birth.
I sleep in a bra because if I don't I'm in pain. I had to find bras that were comfortable. I got sleeping bras from target and sears. They're meant for nursing but they work well now. The other thing that's worked great is tank tops from old navy with the shelf bra built in. They're not maternity, but they're nice and long and cheap! I got a few in a snug size and they keep my boobs happy and they stay in place at night. Not sure how they'll stretch with a belly since mine seems to be growing up and not out.
If you're comfortable buying a bigger shirt, go for it! I know they can feel tent like if you go too big too soon. I bought a few things that fit now and will buy again in a few months. I don't work, so I can get away with this. If you work, I'd buy basics you can rewear all the time and use accessories to change it up. A scarf or sweater would be a big help.
Usually woman who are bigger chested, nursing or lactating sleep in a bra. if you are comfortable no bra- don't worry.
I don't sleep in a bra unless Im nursing and then I need one. (especially when leaking)
As far as clothes- now the maternity clothes are designed to give and stretch. Trust me look for clothes thta have stretch in them. certain stykles feel better at different times. like early on I find the pants with the big flats are more comfortable or elastic waist same with at the end - but at the end the flaps get so snug, so you roll them down anyways. I find if you wear them too long you stretch them out. (so watch for 2nd and 3rd pregnancies if your reusing clothes) I buy clothes that fit me now. they have the "fake stoma=och in the changing room so you can try to see if you gained 10-15 lbs how they would stretch out that its a great tool to use too.
Jeans if they are snug I big the next size up - anythingcotton really as it shrinks a bit and I hang my jeans and such up so its doesn't shrink or fade. Hope this helps. good luck
I'm not huge but sleeping without a bra was getting really uncomfortable so I went to Motherhood and bought sleeping bras. They are super soft and don't have wires or padding. They fit nicely and ever since I purchased them, I sleep in only the bra and my undies! And you can use them after if you are breast feeding. I love them,,,
In regards to maternity clothes..I've so far stayed true to my size. I was a large before and I'm a large now in maternity clothes. Most clothes have enough fabric around the belly to adjust to your growing belly. Should I need to go up a larger size later then I will decide on that later..no point in buying/or thinking about that now. It might be a waste of time and money..
I always wear a bra. Even before I got pregnant. I don't like the feeling of not wearing one. The only time I don't is during sex.. or when I'm taking a shower.
I always buy clothes that are a little bigger or have room to grow so I can fit into them.

I never sleep in a bra. So uncomfortable! It's silly for someone to tell you that you SHOULD be sleeping in a bra. There's nothing magic about a bra. It doesn't protect your breasts overnight. Sleep however you feel comfy.
I bought maternity pants from motherhood based on my pre-pregnancy size. Now I'm 18 weeks with a belly and they aren't too tight at all. However, I have also not gained any weight either. I imagine that you would only need to buy a size up if you end up putting on weight in your hips and thighs. You could try buying just a few items in your normal size and then see if you need to go a size up when you get bigger.
I don't sleep in a bra because for me it's WAY to uncomforatble (and btw I'm a 40D). Do what makes you comfy!
Also I've been wearing my maternity pans for oh, maybe 10 or 11 weeks and they still fit fine even though I've been growing - they're typically built to accomodate an expanding middle, however all of my maternity clothes are from Kohl's or Macy's and they have a rather large spandex/stretchy top (more than 2 or 3 inches in lenght) so I think that helps.
