Question for you ladies - I am a HUGE coffee drinker and have cut back to 1-2 cups of half caf a day - but I have replaced the late morning, afternoon, evening coffee ( I KNOW!) I used to drink, with a decaf chai tea (Bigelow is the brand, I believe). It just dawned on me that not all teas are OK - does anyone know anything about decaf chai? It is not herbal (which I thought to avoid) but there are lots of spices... just wondering if my healthy substitute isn't so healthy ( I am having 1-2 per day)....
and .. baby is an AVACADO today! yay! :-)

This article listed fennel, star-anise or licorice root as the herbs with potential problems. But I think you'd have to have them in pretty large doses.
I did find some Chai that doesn't have any of these ingredients. It just has the cinnamon, nutmeg etc. Just read your labels.
I had a hard time finding one that was decaf and didn't contain stair-anise. So I've had my chai with caffeine as it doesn't contain too much anyway.

As with most things, moderation. Now of course if you are high risk, definitely think twice and as pp said it's most likely has to do more with volumn than just having small amounts. As with caffeine, unless you are early on or have issue, pregnant woman can have up to 150 mg. A single regular soda has about 50mg. So while it's not healthy, a soda everyone in a while isn't going to hurt you. With DS I followed all the "rules" until my 3rd tri. This this one, I am definitely more relaxed. I noticed the baby and my body tend to tell me if I eat or drink something they don't like.
