LO developed a cold yesterday and we were up ALL night, every hour, with her crying and uncomfortable. She will snuggle, can be rocked to sleep, but is really struggling to nurse. I broke down after two fairly unproductive nursing sessions and pumped and tried to give her a bottle, which only my husband ever does so she doesn't associate it with me, and while she'll take it, she is only drinking an ounce or two at time. I am planning to try feeding her again every hour or so and gave her a pacifier in the mean time. I feel awful! The paci helps calm her so she can sleep (we've never given her one, it was not a habit I wanted to start!), but it makes her work harder to breathe (obviously). Sick babies are so sad, not to mention how absolutely EXHAUSTED I am. I am hoping for a few naps today, but we'll see.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
DS was recently sick so I can relate. I bought a battery operated nasal aspirator made by graco, bought it at walmart, that thing is amazing! It works so well and really helped clear his nose out, we also did saline drops several times throughout the day. Hope your LO is feeling better soon!
I'm sorry your LO isn't feeling well! Occasionally DD gets congested and my pedi recommended the "Little Noses" saline spray. She screams while I do it but I think that helps push out the boogies and she can breathe better instantly! I usually pair that with the "snot sucker" (green bulb syringe) and then she can nurse without a problem.
Hope you both get some relief soon, enjoy your snuggle time!
