Do you have "props" already purchased to tell DH your BFP?

Just interested on thoughts for this topic...for the first time in TTC I actually have put some thought into how I would tell DH when we get our BFP. I have read a few things here and there about ladies who buy onesies or shirts they whip out to tell DH they got a BFP.

I'm curious...is it super crazy to buy "props" to have ready when that day finally comes? Have you purchased them already or just know what you want to get?

Yep! ordered last week and had it mailed to a friend until needed! got onesies with "I<3 Barcelona" DH favorite soccer team on earth!

Dno if I'm just gona tell him he received something or hide it in the laundry basket for him to find while folding.. cant wait to use it!!

I am a downer too. I feel like I am going to jinx it if I buy something. I think I might go out and quickly get something if he happens not to be home when it happens. If he is home when I POAS then I probably won't be able to contain myself!

I bought a pair of booties but MH came home from work several hours early on the day I bought them and saw them on the kitchen counter. I've since but a onesie that says "Introducing ME!" on it. It'll probably take every once of patience I can muster up to get the gift ready when I finally get my BFP, rather than just shoving the pee stick in his face.

I don't think it's crazy, I've thought about getting a St. Louis Blues onsie for DH. I've also thought about waking him up and asking him what he is doing on [insert EDD], and then when he says I don't know, I'll suggest having a baby. After 8 months though, he'll probably find out by hearing me scream, "HOLY SH!T, IT'S POSITIVE."

Nope, I'll just blurt it out 2 seconds after I see those lines, just like I did last time. There's no way I could hold it in long enough to use any props. But I think we will do something more creative for family and friends this time, probably involving DS.

I've given it some thought.. someone on here made a doggie T-shirt that said Big Sister. I was thinking I might do something like that if I have the time! DH works opposite schedules from me so I probably could test and still have hours before he gets home.

I don't think it's crazy. I've been thinking of doing it, but usually stop myself. I know what I want to get and will probably go ahead and do it anyway if this cycle is a fail.

Not really. I don't think I will be able to control the excitement. I have, however, started looking at bedding sets, car seats, etc. I keep thinking of baby names too. I've been good this week though...haven't looked at any baby bedding or anything like that so far.

Hell yes I do! I have a pregasauarus shirt to wear to tell MH and most likely our family. I also bought two Groupons for giant fortune cookies. One will be for MH that says, "A baby is in your future." The other I haven't decided on yet. It expires in August so if I'm not KU by then (which I'm sure I won't be!) they will be getting stale fortune cookies hahahha. O and I have mini dino shoes that I will give with the cookie to MH. As you can tell, I dream about this way too much and have too many props but whatev!

I found some incredibly adorable black and white Adidas infant sneakers and sockies on Amazon several months ago and purchased them.

These have stripes on the bottom - mine don't - but they are the cutest little things! The picture doesn't do them justice. Just holding them in my hands gave me this huge swelling of emotion.

OMG. I wish my DH were into Adidas because those socks are the CUTEST things i've ever seen. in my life.

I told DH with beer. Our last name is a kind of beer and I brought home a 6-pack(after I POAS at work) and told him we'd have a little extra *insert name*. It took him a second to catch on but it was funny when he did.

I don't think it's crazy to have something special set aside for DH for the big day that you get your BFP. Me personally I have not purchased anything. I have a few items in mind that I would like to get for DH to share the news but I really am at the point that I will probably not surprise him with anything and instead yell "Looks like we actually got it right this month".

These are some really cute ideas! I do already feel better about spending some time searching the internet for what I'd get. This is our last cycle TTC on our own before dr's get involved and i'm just feeling positive. Either way we will hopefully start getting some answers and a BFP. I have always felt like I didn't want to get anythign and jinx us, but we obviously haven't gotten our BFP, so maybe it's the positive energy we need.

My thought is that i would just keep it hidden in my closet. I get up earlier than him so after i POAS, i could just grab it out of my closet.

I'm torn between getting shirts for my daughter and step son that say Big Brother & Big Sister and just asking him, "when do you want to give these to the kids?" or a bib that i found that says, "i have the best of both worlds" and shows an Italian and Irish flag and just showing it to him and saying something like "how cute will the baby look in this?" Smile

I haven't decided about how to tell DH, but I know how I'm going to tell my family. We are all animal lovers in my family. H and I have 3 rescued cats (yes, I'm one husband away from being a cat lady, haha). I got little t-shirts for them that I'm going to write "Big Sister" & "Big Brother" or something like that. I haven't 100% decided what they will say, but I'll either have the family over for dinner or TRY to take a picture of the 3 cats. My family will probably think we're just getting another cat though...

I love the fortune cookie idea, btw!

DH thought a bib I pinned on pinterest was cute (these fools put my cape on backwards) so I ordered a similar one from etsy, not sure I'll be able to avoid shoving pee stick in his face either! IF we get lucky this time around we should find our on or around his birthday at the end of March so I would love to wrap it up as a present!

I would have liked to do something cute but with two out of three pregnancies ending in loss for us, a BFP brings on more of a worried/cautious/nervous wreck emotion than a happy/excited/HOLY CRAP I'm KTFU!!!! emotion. It would feel weird for me to tell him in some elaborate way when the news may end up being bad news instead of good.

Sorry, I'm a downer too. Sad

I don't have anything yet, but have ideas...now you all have me wanting to go get some things!

I probably should buy something now or I will be too excited and just blurt it out.

We do plan to buy onesies for our family that say "favorite Aunt" or "grandmas favorite"...to tell all of them as we will have the first grandchild on my side and the second my DH's side of the family.

I just hope I can keep the one for my DH secret until we are pregnant!

I purchased a onesie during my 1st cycle and here I am at cycle 14 and the onesie is still hidden in between my clothes in our closet. I had ordered it online and plan to surprise him with it. Was planning on putting inside picnic basket and going to the park and having him open basket and seeing it there.

Last time around I had some sort of dad book that I was going to give him. Instead I came out of the bathroom going, "Do you see a line there? Like if I tilt it in the light this way? That's a second line, right?" Because it was so faint, he wouldn't really believe I was actually pregnant (he was one of those - "it's not true until the doctor confirms it" kind of guys). So it was more of a gradual transition from TTC to pregnant for him. Don't know if it will be different this time. If it works on our first cycle I'll be testing while I'm out of town, so maybe I can come up with a creative way to tell him other than taking a pic of my BFP and sending it to him :-)

The other day I ordered a shirt for DS that says "Most Awesome Big Brother." I thought I'd just put it on him and see how long it takes DH to notice! And then if the shirt still fits 3mos later we can use it to announce to the rest of the family.

I didn't have anything bought when I got my BFP in December, but after the mc I needed to cheer myself up so I bought these adorable little U of M baby booties. When I get another BFP I'll leave the booties, the test and a note saying "second time's a charm?" on MH's favorite chair and wait for him to see them.

I don't have anything right now. I do plan on buying a bun from his favorite bakery and putting it in the oven. When he opens the oven he'll see the "bun in the oven."

Some of these are really good ideas. We've had one loss together already and it's been an emotional journey for us. I think I'll just sit him down and tell him excitedly because once you've had a loss, you tend to be nervous about future BFP's and if they'll stick...

I bought DH a onesie that said My Daddy Rocks on it and gave it to him with his Valentine's Day presents. He absolutely loved it. Unfortunately that wasn't our sticky baby though so it was a little hard to see it afterwards. We now have it put away... he still loves it though and is happy that I gave it to him. Before the m/c, I had ordered a book for him off of Amazon called Dude, you're going to be a dad. He knows about it but forgets things quickly. When we get another BFP, I'll probably give that to him to tell him. We'll see.

I had always dreamed of telling DH in a cute way or getting a gift for him to let him know but he will be with me as I wait on the stick. We were so excited the last time, I just plowed him down on the bed and screamed about it. I am going to do something for our mothers though. When I was first pregnant with my daughter, I bought them both little Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore stuffed animals (baby section in Target) and I wrote them a card from "their future grand baby" telling them that she couldn't be here yet and they had to wait but while they were waiting they could love on Winnie or Eeyore. They both still have them and cherish them so I thought about getting them another stuffed animal to make a little family. I think they would like it. I'm not going to buy them until we are ready to share our news though...don't want to jinx it!

I bought some on Monday. I have no idea what got into my head, but I got this crazy spell of positivity and wanted to be prepared in case I'm right.

DH turns 30 on 3/11, but I'll likely test this weekend. So I got a a pack of onesies and a baby bottle. I'm going to wrap them up and tell him (if I'm actually KU this cycle) that I got him a few things to prepare him for his 30's. I'd like to get some kind of diaper kit thing too, because I think it would be funny.

God I hope I'm knocked up.

I purchased a black onesie and personally made it especailly for him... He loves wheelin in his john deere greene 72 bronco, so i found a really cool pic of it on a hill. I made an iron on transfer "purchased kit from hobby lobby" and took that pic and put "my daddy rocks" circiling the bronco pic.. and the other funny thing is why i picked "rocks" is his license plate for it was 3 numbers and then the three letters "ROK" and he didn't even have it made like that either which is the cool thing. so i took a pic of the license plate and made it an iron on transfer too and ironed that on the butt of the onesie.. maybe i will take a pic and post it when he is not around...

I wish I'd be able to buy something to surprise DH with the news, but he wants to be there when I take the test. After 3 years of TCC and knowing that he'll be deploying soon, I wouldn't want to rob him of the opportunity that he is hoping for.

Maybe I could buy something to let him know when I think it's time to test!
