Pregnant after a Loss

Early symptom Q. (lack of)---talk me down, pgal moment.

My boobs dont hurt and I am not bloated.

With my last 2 pregnancy/losses those were my main early symptoms. In fact my nips hurt from pretty much O on.

I have none. Did anyone have no real early symptoms? Did anyone who had none have some in past pregnancies?

My betas were great (low in my mind, but they raised alright), but I also know that doesnt mean very much sometimes.

Thanks ladies, I am having a freak out.

Re: Early symptom Q. (lack of)---talk me down, pgal moment.

  • With this pregnancy, I really didn't start having symptoms until around 6 or 7 weeks, but with my previous loss, I had sore boobs right away.

It's so hard not knowing, but I just kept telling myself that every pregnancy is different, and that I didn't necessarily want this pregnancy to follow the same path as my last one, since that one obviously didn't end well.

Hang in there--I'll be sending you lots of good thoughts!

  • Totally and completely normal to not have any symptoms that early on.  Even later on symptoms may come and go.  FWIW, I had really mild 1st Tri symptoms and DS ended up getting here just fine.

  • One of the reasons I was sure AF was coming was because my boobs didn't hurt at all.  I remember standing and poking them in front of DH around five weeks saying they feel dead, which of course sparked an odd look from him, but it really freaked me out.  It actually took until 6 weeks for my boobs to realize I was pregnant. I didnt have any real nausea until then either, now I have plenty.

Hang in there, your betas are great!

  • I don't have any symptoms either and I'm only a couple days behind you.

For  my 1st pregnancy with DS I didn't feel symptoms until at least 6 weeks I would say and even then, I didn't have much of anything at all. I never really had morning sickness and my boobs rarely hurt. The main thing I felt was tired. For my 2nd pregnancy that ended in a loss it was very similar, I might have felt a little nauseous but not anything to the point of throwing up.

I know it's easy to stress about this stuff, every little thing I feel these days I think is a bad sign so I'm right there with you! But please try not to worry, it only adds unneeded stress.

  • Your numbers look great!  I went through the same paranoia this pregnancy.  I hardly had any symptoms and the ones that I did have only lasted about 4-5 weeks and started around 6-7 weeks.  I never felt bloated and my boobs didn't hurt until later on and it was more my nipples than my actual boob.

Try and stay positive (as hard as it is), but I was in the same boat as you are now.  Your symptoms will come, it just might be a little early.

  • Relax and breathe.

While I suppose my track record isn't glowing, at least I can relate with you. Last time I only had sensitive nips, heavy boobs and bloat all the way up to my m/c at 8w2d.

This time around (granted I'm still recovering from a bad@ss cold) I just started getting sensitive nips in the last few days... and I think I'm always bloated, plus I inherited the 'pooch' from my mom's side of the family so it's hard to tell what's bloat sometimes. (I'm 6w1d)

Every body is different and every pg is different (at least that's what I tell myself). It's still early on for you, so give it some more time before you freak out too much. I totally understand wishing for m/s to help you feel better about the pg.... so FX you start hugging the toilet tomorrow!

  • I could have wrote this post myself....I actually did a couple of days ago. With my loss in November I had a ton of cramping, fatigue so bad I was going to bed at 7pm every night and still feeling like I had never slept, had bloating so bad I couldn't wear my regular clothes starting at 4.5 weeks, and went to the bathroom over 3 times a night. This pregnancy is very different. The only thing I have is sore nipples and swollen breasts. That's it. I get fatigued easily but it is nothing I can't push through. I have had no bloating and have actually lost weight. I only get up once a night to go to the bathroom. I called the nurse yesterday because I was so worried about it and she said not to worry because many symptoms don't show until around 6 weeks and if they don't to consider myself lucky. Both my sister and my mom had pretty easy pregnancies. Neither had morning sickness but my sister had some problems with swelling. So I would say that at 4w...almost 5w to enjoy your last couple of weeks of no symptoms because they can hit at any time. Hope this offers some comfort

Oh thank you. And thanks for the reminder that maybe I dont want this pg to "feel" the same way as the last two. I dont want it going the same way. I should be happy that it feels different.

Maybe it is different for a reason.

  • Baroo, focus on those great betas!

With this pregnancy, I didn't have ANY symptoms until after 6 weeks.  None at all.  I was so depressed I wasn't feeling anything and was sure this was a bad sign.  On top of that, at 4 weeks and 6 weeks I had spotting... but... Everything was fine!  If I have learned anything, it is NOT to compare this pregnancy with my first, which I had tons of early symptoms and ended in m/c.

  • {{Hugs}} I know the earliest days are some of the hardest. I only had 2 betas but mine was 367 at 18-19 DPO, which is really close to your last number. I thought it was "low" when I compared it to the other PgAL ladies, but here I am at 34w3d. :)

I also didn't have any early symptoms other than thirst and cramping. I never got m/s and my BB's didn't start hurting until a while later.

I know it's so hard, but try not to worry.

  • I haven't had any sore boobs yet... and my symptoms didn't really kick in until 6-7 weeks. And I haven't had much bloating either. Every one is different!!
  • It's so hard not to worry!  I don't really have any symptoms yet either... just very minor ones. I keep telling myself that it's probably too early for symptoms and that everyone and every pregnancy is different Smile
  • Hang in there, hun. I didn't start having symptoms until about 5.5w this time. With my second loss I had symptoms starting at 16dpo. I know it's hard, but just because you don't have any yet doesn't mean something bad is going to happen. Your betas look great!

I want to echo izzie. I'm a day behind you and haven't had any real symptoms except being tired. With my last pregnancy that ended in loss, I didn't have any m/s, but symptoms like sore BBs and nausea didn't hit until around week 7 for me. Hang in there! I feel like this too some days!!

  • Baroo ~ You are really early. My boobs didn't get sore until after 5 weeks, and even then t're not super sore like last time. I didn't get nausea until 7 weeks. It sucks that we don't feel like we can trust our bodies to get this right...

  • With my 1st pg that ended in m/c, my boobs hurt TERRIBLY starting about a week after O and right up until the m/c. I was also very bloated and gassy feeling. With this pregnancy, my boobs/nips only hurt here and there, the bloat comes and goes, and I didn't have m/s or nausea until 6wk1d. I just keep reminding myself that every pregnancy is different and maybe different symtpoms means things are going in a different direction than last time (of course that's what we're all hoping for!). *Try* not to be too stressed over it (I know...much easier said than done) and just count your blessings for every day you don't have m/s!
  • I really didn't have any symptoms at all until 6ish weeks when I had 1 week of nausea/upset stomach.  Then my symptoms went away until 8ish weeks when I had nausea/queasiness pretty much non-stop until 10 weeks.  Then after that, nothing really.  I did start feeling really tired at around 7 or so weeks and that lasted until about 12 weeks.  Boobs started hurting around 6 weeks and that continued until 13-14 weeks.  But at your stage I had ZERO symptoms.  It freaked me out too, but see, almost 30 weeks!!  That will be you in 25 weeks!!!!

I didn't really have too many symptoms until around 7 or 8 weeks with DS.  And my betas were considerably lower than yours (11 at 11 DPO, 45 at 13 DPO and 145 at 15 DPO or something like that).  Keep in mind that symptoms come and go and you can't compare the symptoms from one pregnancy to another.  They are more likely to be very different than they are to be the same.  And remember that it's the increase in numbers that counts.  Yours are looking great.

  • Raising my hand!!! I've always had mild symptoms for all my pregnancies, sore boobs, hungry, tired. With this one I didn't feel at all pregnant until about 9 weeks. I also assume that's when my progesterone supplements caused some side effects and it wasn't really from pregnancy. I told my doctor my body was used to 1st tri by this point and that's why I felt NOTHING. I groped my boobs hoping they would hurt and they never did.
