Bad news from Quad screen

in Pregnant after a Loss

I got a call yesterday that my quad screen was screen positive for Down syndrome. I have an appointment with MFM for a scan and probably amnio today at 2.

I'm pretty bummed right now, but I also understand that we don't know anything for sure.  Waiting wont be easy.  If anyone has some good vibes laying around that they aren't using today, feel free to send them my way.

    Sending you good vibes. Those tests can be wrong...I have two friends who had positive results that ended up not having Downs.  I'll be thinking of you.

    Sending you good vibes!!  I don't have any personal experience with this, but I do know a few people who have & the tests were wrong.

    When you say you came up positive, I'm assuming you mean your odds came back pretty high for Downs.  If that's the case, I can offer you some hope.  Last May, when I was about 17w I got the results back for my Quad Screen.  1:10 odds for Downs.  Within 24 hours I was seeing an MFM and having an amnio.  As you can see in my siggy, we were in the 90% that have a perfectly normal baby with our 1:10 odds.

    I'm including a link for something I wrote about our amnio. Figure you might want to know what to expect if you haven't BTDT.  BTW, we found out DS was a boy the day of our amnio (they did a detailed u/s that ended up counting as his a/s).

    I'm so sorry you got bad news.  I had a 1/70 chance and also had an amnio.  FWIW, the amnio was way less scary/painful than I thought it would be.

    My T&Ps are with you. I had a CVS last pregnancy. The procedure, from what I hear, is similar to amnio. It's not bad, it's the waiting that is hard.

    Sending tons of positive vibes your way...and keep in mind that on a lot of those tests, a "positive" is still only a 1 in 50 chance or something like that....which means there is a 98% chance your baby is perfectly healthy!

    This. Did you nt scan come back with high odds as well?
