doppler bothering baby??

I rented a doppler.  I love being able to hear the lo's heartbeat!!  It's so reassuring.  But the little peanut always moves away from it.  I'll find the heartbeat for about 10 seconds and then its gone.  Then I'll find it again and it moves away again.  Does anyone know why the lo moves away?  Is it the noise or the pressure?  I really hope I'm not hurting or bothering my sweet-pea!!!

  • I don't know from experience, but I have heard that they don't like the noise.

  • I wouldn't think it would bother them... they are very active in this stage and are constantly moving around... there are times that my little guy will stay on the doppler for min at a time, but then there are times where I can hardly get him to stay for more than a few seconds...

If anything, turn the volume down (if yours has the capability) so that they can't hear it but you can.

  • I'm glad you posted this because I was having the same thoughts. I'll find his heartbeat for about a minute then its gone. I would have to find him again. I thought i was the only one.

  • I think they just move around no matter what.

  • My LO does this all the time. Did it at doctors office and he wasn't worried. I think it's the vibrations which irritate them or noise. I don't think it hurts, seems like its more annoying to them. Like when you squish em and they kick you.

I love it. It's great for lazy days when I need some reassurance.
