During my 1st pregnancy I continued to drink coffee although I cut down to 1 cup a day and even that was half decaf and everything went fine.
Now that I've experienced a m/c I'm nervous about every little thing this time and feel like I'd better cut it out entirely. So today is day 1... the mornings will be tough but I think I can do this.
Anyone else cut it out or did you just cut down?

I gave it up. I did give in and have a half cup a couple weeks back (it was a gourment coffee, strawberry & white chocolate, that I bought for DH for Valentines day). I hadn't had it in 3 months. After I drank it, I experienced mild cramping all day. My doctor suggested drinking 24-32 oz of water and putting my feet up because I could be dehydrated and that would cause irritible uterus. Since I have a history of preterm labor they took precaution, but I specifically remembering the nurse telling me "no caffiene" (it heightens dehydration if you haven't drank enough I guess). So, no more coffee for me. Even if it wasn't the cause, it was the only thing I did differently that day.
I've heard of women that drink it throughout (limiting to 1 cup a day). But if anything, I'd stick with decaf. If you just *like* coffee, maybe try the coffee flavored hot chocolates?

I've definitely cut down but not out. I drink 1/2 to a whole cup in the morning. It helped with first tri headaches and constipation. I did cut out soda which was hard. I love me a Coke but I've been really good about giving that up. Caffeine in moderation is ok.
I don't drink plain coffee normally, but I would have one coffee a weekend at starbucks and maybe one can of pop a week while eating out. I have pretty much since stopped. I have a sip here and there if my husband gets something good, but am also concerned about drinking all of that sugar...
If I was a regular drinker, I would probably just cut back.

I was already weaning myself off caffeine when I found out I was pregnant this time, so I just went ahead and quit. I asked my doc about it the other day, and he said that "1 cup of coffee or equivalent a day is usually fine. But 2 cups a day or more does start to have a m/c association. So, technically you can have a cup if you really want it..." So I decided it really isn't that important to me. LOL
Honestly, drinking decaf did help me for a while. The whole placebo effect is pretty amazing. But then it started making me nauseous, so I just gave it up completely. I miss coffee.
