When does the 2nd tri begin?

I know this probably sounds like a silly question but I've heard different answers and I'm in that borderline territory but when does the 2nd trimester begin?

Good to know! So, if I may ask, why do some say it is 12 weeks? The other seems to be the 1/3 mark so I'm wondering why 12 weeks is also out there.

I think some confuse the 12w mark b/c that's when the risk of m/c drops and it's so close to the end of 1st tri so they just say 12w.

Also, some still think there is only 4w in a month, which isn't the case. So 3 months =/= 12 weeks.
