March 2012 Moms

Will our BMB die a slow, painful death after the babies are all born?

I know this has been expressed before, and most people said that they would continue to post.  But I've already noticed a decrease in posts since a bunch of regs delivered.  I have my own mini-BMB on Facebook with my 3 other friends who were all due within 3 weeks of me, and the two that have delivered are still posting regularly about breast-feeding, poopy diapers, etc.  I haven't really seen many of those posts here.... maybe just because the new moms think that we late 3rd-tris don't want to hear it?

I'm just worried that everyone will get preoccupied and disappear from the board and it will only be me and a few other addicts kicking cans around in here...

Re: Will our BMB die a slow, painful death after the babies are all born?

  • I imagine that things will pick back up after we all get settled with our LO's, although maybe not to the full extent as before. I know I will still need advice and information about how to take care of a baby!

  • I was just thinking about that this morning..I have only started to post regularly recently because I stopped work, but I noticed a big decrease in the amount of posts as well!

Maybe some of them have moved to the 0-3 months temporarily so they aren't posting about things we can't relate to yet..or maybe we will all have a decrease in posts for the first week or so of getting used to parenthood. Who knows, but I hope it doesn't die completely!

  • I've been wondering about this, myself. I'm also concerned that all we'll talk about is baby stuff, and honestly, we are more than just incubators and milk machines for our little ones. I'd like to be able to commiserate with other mothers over that fact, as well as the regular new parent-related things.  Huh?

  • I still post and comment/respond to people when  have relevant information to add to their posts. However, that being said, I know I'm not as likely to post but it's not because the babies are here... It's more because for the most part I skip over the posts about people complaining about contractions, wondering if their contractions are real, and wait for it... posts about mucus plugs. Ick. I think we all knew it was bound to happen but at least for medical related questions/concerns, call your doctor! Don't ask people on the internet.

I'm also kind of cranky because I see people commenting on how sick and tired they are of being pregnant and it makes my heart hurt. I went into preterm labor and had two NICU babies and I would have given anything to still be pregnant. I know how uncomfortable everyone is, trust me, but personally for me when I read these types of things I don't have anything nice to say so I don't say anything at all.

Sorry for this semi rant/vent, I guess I just needed to get that out. But back to the original question, I'll still be here! And I'll help as much as I can with questions, and people can feel free to ask me anything they need - assuming I didn't just scare them off with my rant.

  • I primarily Bump at work and tend to not visit TB as often while at home as I have other distractions. I expect many new moms (me included) will be on  hiatus for a while after LO gets here and then come back.

This.  I won't abandon you Cho!  Although the first week home might be a lot less from me, as DH will be home and I'll be learning how to best care for Little Tiger, but then I agree that it will pick back up.

Besides, we have to have pledgings where we post random stupid crap on other BMBs.  I'm thinking the first one should be a picture of the worst poopy diaper you've changed and post it on the BMB of the current month....  So if we did it in April 2012, post it them the April 2012 BMB.  Totally the most mature thing to do! (I was gone the day that happened and actually wasted my life reading that thread when I got back from visiting my parents.  lol.)

  • I'm sure they are just adjusting to "Motherhood"...

I will definitely continue to post Big Smile

I think it'll get quiet as we adjust to new schedules, and new babies, and all the general newness. But I'm sure it'll pick back up as people get into their grooves and figure out their schedules and stuff. :) I don't plan on going anywhere. :)

This. I'm sure all the new mommas are just exhausted and trying to get some sort of order in their lives right now. Hopefully they'll come back when they do.

I don't plan on going anywhere either.

  • I hope not, if it weren't for this board I would be absolutely clueless!! Especially bc most of you are a month ahead of me I feel like I get a preview of what I'm in for! Same will go for when everyone's LO's are here.

  • I'm hoping that we all keep posting!!!  I have come to rely on all the March Mommies to help answer questions and make me feel like I'm not the crazy person I think I am!!  After we all have our LOs, I plan on looking to you girlies to help me through the roughness of being a FTM, b/c a lot of you will be experiencing it also!!

Please please please say you'll all stay!!!

Hahahahahaha.  Well of course... I assumed that was the reason that all of us joined the Bump in the first place.

And don't forget, we need to drive each and every joke post into the ground before giving up on our pledge assignments. No walking away when it's clear no one finds it funny but us!  Confused

(I admit it: I was bored and alone that night. *lol*)

  • I'll still be here Cho!  I'm guilty of lurking more than posting (and of posting responses more than starting my own posts), but I really want to be more active.  I can only Bump from my phone at work.  I hope the board doesn't die!!

  • I like our BMB too much to stop checking in with everyone's goings-on.  After my LO gets here, though, I imagine posting will be the furthest thing from my for a bit as we get used to routines, etc.  I do plan to come back once things settle in a bit.  It has been quieter than usual around here...

    I'll second the above.

I intend to stick around, as much as I can, anyway.  I don't have other mothers around me where we're stationed now (I'm sure there are plenty, there always are on military posts, but I don't know any and I rarely find any with shared interests), so I like knowing there's a place to go to chat and find support.

  • I plan to still be around. I have lots of questions. :)
  • I will definitely be sticking around. I'll post my birth story and pics ASAP and then will probably go into lurk mode until we get settled in. Once we get into a bit of a routine, I will get back to posting. I'm sure I'll lurk on the 0-3 month board, but this will always be my home!

  • I'm still around, but not as often as I was at work haha. Also, I don't have much to add to the "I'm so done" or the "are these contrax?" because I am done with the being pregnant part. Once everyone starts coming back with the LOs on the outside, I would imagine things would pick up a bit.

  • This is my home board, so I'll be here. :) I think as ladies settle into motherhood we'll see more regularity, but it'll definitely slow down. I check in at least twice a day because, well... I'm a Bump addict Wink.

  • I also wanted to add that the Bump has been annoyingly slow for the last week or so. There have been several times I go to reply to a thread and it won't load so I just give up instead.

  • I'll still be here!  But it'll be a lot less starting now until my MIL leaves.  DH has school and work, so all of those hours I used to dedicate to bumping will be dedicated to entertaining until Jane gets here!
