Pregnant after a Loss

Yep betas are good for added stress

I had my 2nd round of betas today and the number was pretty high I think. The 1st at 10 DPO was 14 and today at 17 DPO 839. I think I'm so nervous because my previous loss was due to Triploidy. It can cause higher hormone levels than "normal."  I'm just hoping my "normal" is 839. Ugh now I can't wait for the NT scan...

Re: Yep betas are good for added stress

  • I was stressing about my betas too, I thought they were really high.  So far, everything seems to be okay, but I know that the fear of something going wrong is there (due to high HCG or something else).  This journey is so hard, but try to hang in there! :]

  • I am sorry you're stressed. As if being PgAL isn't stressful enough! If your doctor didn't seem concerned about your HcG then I would try to trust that. I know its easier said than done. If it is any comfort, when I was pregnant with DS, at 5 weeks my first beta was like 2200, and he is here and a great little guy.

    All ALers welcome!
  • Thanks ladies. I think sometimes I just get myself worked up and forget the reality. I have been going by there is a very slim chance to have another baby with triploidy but then there was someone who just posted on TTCAL that she had a 3rd m/c and the last two were diagnosed as triploidy.

I just need to find a way to be positive about it all and it's so dang hard! Thanks again for your comments.

  • 839 at 17 DPO seems right in the normal range! At 16 DPO mine were 560, and at 18 DPO they were 1713. The midwife said those were great numbers! Have you checked out betabase?

  • I know it's easy to worry, but check out https://betabase.info and you'll see that for your DPO that number looks within normal range. at 10DPO my number was 21 and then shot up well into the 1000s at my next draw. I was concerned, and it was well over the "normal" range even on betabase.info's website but there is one healthy girl in there right now. Betas can easily stress you out.

  • I must not have looked at beta base. Everyone I did look up had the high end at 500. That gives me great peace of mind though. I just need to be better at what sites I use!
