Multiples

morning sickness & multiples

When did you stop feeling sick, if ever? I am still feeling sick and actually threw up for the first time yesterday (when I though I should be turning a corner). With my daughter I felt much better by 13 weeks and never threw up. I know every pregnancy is different, just curious to hear your thoughts.  I am also feeling crampy and have headaches. Is this all part of a multiple pregnancy?

Re: morning sickness & multiples

  • I just stopped having m/s and got my appetite back over the weekend.  I am still nervous that it is going to return and am taking 4 mg of zofran in the morning to be on the "safe side".  Hopefully you will find some relief soon!

  • I started getting sick at ten weeks and would throw up once a day. This lasted until I was 20 weeks.

  • I started feeling much better aroun 13-14 weeks.  But I still had random nausea and vomitted a couple times in my second trimester.

  • With my daughter, I only had like two weeks of bad nauseau in the first trimester.  With the boys, I'm sorry to say, probably around 20 weeks, I started to feel better -- BUT by the end it was really strong food aversions, rather than just straight nauseau so much.

  • I still get sick, from time to time, in the mornings.  I have to eat something as soon as my eyes open, otherwise I'll get sick.  Good luck!

  • It gets better! I have thrown up 2-3 (sometimes more) everyday until today.(so far) I feel normal again & starting to get out of the haze. Hang in there. I got better at the exact time that I did with DS. 14 weeks.

  • I never had morning sickness but definitely had the crampy feeling.  I really haven't felt crampy in a couple of weeks though.  My midwife told me at my last visit (last week) that feeling crampy was totally normal.  I started having headaches a couple of weeks ago & they are killer sometimes.  I have them almost daily & am hoping they go away soon but I hear they are horomone related so who knows if they will stop.  Hope you feel better soon!!
  • I started to feel better around 17-18 weeks. A fountain coke/pepsi helped a ton after I was out of the 1st tri and I still drink one when I can get it.

  • Mine stopped at 16 weeks. At 13 weeks I had to go on Zofran because I was becoming too dehydrated, I could eat some food, but if I drank liquids after eating I would throw up everything. So I wasn't drinking as much water as I needed to everyday. The Zofran does help a lot. It didn't take the m/s away completely, just took the edge off so I didn't feel soo crappy all the time.

  • Heavy duty sickness left at about 10 weeks, but I still get nauseous and gag multiple times almost every day. It has not been fun.

  • I'm 15 weeks and still getting sick, but it's not every single morning. Yesterday I felt great, but this morning I had 2 rounds of sickness. It's lessening but somewhat unpredictable! I hope yours lessens in the next week or so as you enter the 2nd trimester!

  • I never had m/s....ever.  I delivered 2 healthy 6.5 lbs twins.  I think it's all personal/hormonal thing.  Not sure why I never had m/s, just didn't.  I also didn't show until I was 16-17w, but was as big as a house by 22w.

  • I was sick on a daily basis until around 15 weeks, and then had random episodes of vomiting for a week or two after that. I didn't feel bad all the time, I would just randomly have to throw up.

My OB told me the cramping is just a part of carrying multiples. You're growing and stretching much faster than with a singleton, and it's uncomfortable/painful.

  • I was actually slightly less sick this pregnancy than I was with DS. With DS it was 24/7 nausea and vomiting from 10 DPO to 20 weeks. With these two, I sometimes got a break of 2-3 hrs in the mid-afternoon and it went from 10 DPO to 16 weeks. I hope you feel better soon---it's so hard to feel bad all the time!

  • I had hyperamisis and puked until the day after I delivered at 32 weeks and 4 days.  Sorry :(  My youngest was until 26 weeks.
  • Still suffering here...Sad
  • I had to take Zofran until 24 weeks or so.
  • I never really threw up... just a few times in the morning, but I was so nauseated until close to 20 weeks.

  • I was feeling much better by about 15-16 weeks.  Unfortunately, I have had a return of nausea in the evenings- no idea why- but I take Zofran a couple times a week just to make sure that dinner stays down.  I feel great until about 6:00 at night though, which is much better than all-day sickness.

  • For me, weeks 9-14 were horrible no matter what I did. I was able to keep down very little and needed  IV fluids 3-4x/week to stay hydrated. Since then, it has definitely slowly gotten better. I am not on zofran anymore (started to give me bad headaches), though I am really reliant on unisom, which works really well for me (if I don't take it, I still will spend the following day vomiting everything I try to eat). The m/s can definitely be brutal, but for most of us, it seems the severity does lessen considerably some time during the 2nd tri, so there is often a light at the end of the tunnel.
