2nd Trimester

Kicking in the ribs?

All morning I have been experiencing what I can only describe as "muscle twitches" in my right rib area... can this be the baby kicking? Can she kick up that high already?

I've never had muscle twitches before in any other area of my body other than my eye...

I have anterior placenta, so thus far-- all movement has been very light and muted.

Re: Kicking in the ribs?

  • On Sunday, it felt like someone was trying to separate my rib cage from the inside out, so I'm no doctor but I'd say it's possible!

(I have an AP as well, but I'm not sure it's relevant.)

  • Mine decided to take residence on my left side for about  a month. I felt him in my lower left side and when I had my 15w U/S the tech told me it was the head. LOL

Same thing, I've been feeling kicks in my ribs. I'm hoping he runs out of space and moves to the center soon.

  • Me and you are fairly close in due dates -but I am pretty short at 5'1 with not much room for baby in there lol :)  I've been getting rib kicks for what seems like maybe 2 weeks or so?  I feel like not that long ago at 20 weeks, my uterus was supposedly at my belly button but shortly after 20 weeks I started feeling kicks a little higher and higher and all over instead of just real low like they were before.  Now if I'm sitting at my desk kind of hunched squishing my belly and she kicks high its definitely at my ribs and it's the weirdest feeling!  Makes you want to sit up and stretch to give lo more room lol.  I have a very short torso though!
  • I am definitely not as far as you but I've been feeling this as well since about 3 days ago. I feel it more just under my boobs. I didn't think it was possible to be the baby yet so I wondered what it was. I had to go for a redo of my a/s yesterday since she was moving too much the first time. I asked the tech about it. Her head was resting on my bladder but her legs were extending way past my belly button but not quite at my ribs. So I think what I've been feeling is the effects of her kicking my organs that are just below my ribs.

I have an anterior placenta and I am 5 feet tall with a super short torso.
