Pregnant after a Loss

Having a total PGAL moment :(

So, I can't seem to stop analyzing my bump. I freak out because sometimes I think it looks smaller or am worried that it has not grown much in the past week. I had an u/s last Tuesday and all was well, but I still can't help but worry. I have been scrutinizing my bump all morning... I feel crazy. I hate feeling his way. Any advice? Thank you for reading.

  • *hugs* I've been doing the same thing! I swear this weekend and yesterday I felt like I was really showing, and this morning when I looked in the mirror there was hardly anything there! You just had a great u/s and I am sure LO is just fine!!

  • OMGosh - I was having this same freak-out moment this morning. I was laying in bed, poking at the baby, and I realized my bump was at my belly button! I think maybe it was just a full bladder and the "normal" being bigger than normal of having been around this particular block a few times. But still, the panic set right in.

Try not to worry! The size and shape of the bump is far from constant.

My bump is *always* smaller in the morning than at night.  Some days this is more pronounced than others, but it has been happening since I first started having a bump (at night, and then it would be gone in the AM!).  Now at night my belly button is almost-escaped, and in the morning I have a clear innie again (so the size thing is not just my imagination).  But it happens pretty much every day.

Hang in there! I'm sure baby is just fine - just positioned differently or your bloat under the bump has changed.

Thank you for your response. You have definitely helped calm me down (and on more than one occasion). I am just getting used to this whole having a bump thing, so I was not aware that it can vary in appearance so much. I figured that it was just supposed to be growing bigger everyday or something. Silly me. Thanks again for always being so helpful :)

This exactly. I even remember with DS later in the pregnancy this pattern would continue depending on his position.

  • Thanks for your replies, ladies. I think the fact that I don't have a full-fledged bump yet has a lot to do with how I'm feeling. I have to keep reminding myself that even pre-pregnancy my stomach looks smaller and less bloated in the mornings. I seem to have my freak outs in the morning when my bump looks tiny. I have spent a good chunk of my morning Google imaging 17 week baby bumps and comparing mine. Yikes, this needs to stop...

  • I think I wrote this exact post at 17 weeks....and was thinking the same thing this week!  My bump seems to shrink sometimes. I don't know why...but it does. I know it is hard but try not to worry. From what I understand this is normal as the baby moves around. I am also finding the hb on the doppler about an inch to two inches higher than I was before 17 weeks...so maybe when the baby moves up things shift?  Not sure...but I think this happens to us all.

When I was pregnant with my first, I didn't pop until I was much further along,  well over 20 weeks. At my birthing class at 7 months the other mom's didn't believe I was pregnant (I got annoyed so I lifted my shirt and showed them my little bump). I was a swimmer in high school and had great core muscles. You probably just have strong abs and it's holding the baby in. You don't notice growth everyday. One day you'll wake up and "whoa!" you look pregnant.

  • I keep analyzing mine as well so I can't really say not to worry. I guess it's just one of those PGAL moments we all have. But as PPs have said, my stomach is smaller in the morning before I've stuffed it with food!! Hope you feel better and this moment passes quickly for you!

  • I'm so sorry that you're feeling this way.  I hope these feelings pass soon!  Someone posted an inspirational post about worrying a few posts ahead of this, and it was just waht I needed!  I have been having a day similar to yours in terms of scrutinizing and worrying every symptom or lack of symptoms, and it was just what I needed!  I hope that you feel better soon!

  • Sister you and me are in the same boat! Mine is huge period but in am it's smaller at night I look like a behemoth let loose from the zoo! Lol.

I think it's caused from food and if you have to poop and fluid levels.
