Wondering if we would have the same response if this question was posted on the 2nd tri board. The responses on here were very heated and quite different when I was pregnant with DS!

Unfortunately this is not true. My BFF decided not to vaccine her kids and she's still on that bandwagon no matter how many people tell her that the study that linked the 2 was wrong.
She's a big girl so I don't feel the need to lecture her but when my baby comes she'll feel the backlash of the effects of her decision when her kids aren't allowed near my newborn until he's fully vaccinated. We're not even allowing anyone to hold him unless they've gotten the whopping cough vaccine. No one is being forced to do anything but then you have to live with the choices you make. No vaccines=no baby holding.
Does anyone think that maybe there are a bunch of non vaccinators among us but they didnt feel comfortable saying something?
on that note, i am very much pro vaccinations...

The whole "I refuse to vaccinate my children because it causes autism" thing pisses me off. I'm sorry, but I would rather deal with a child who thinks differently (I refuse to see autism as a disability-another rant), than a dead/sick child. We are vaccinating our child, and anybody who doesn't have their vaccinations is not allowed near our child UNTIL they have their vaccinations.
Anyways, back on topic: Yeah, I'm surprised it didn't get that heated too.
Eh- my brother thinks so differently he probably wont be able to hold a job or live on his own. But for alot of kids, thats not the case.
Its genetic and yeah I agree- I would take a kid with autism over a kid with severe diseases. Because that can be just as damaging if not more.
Not that that really even matters in the vax debate anymore because that whole scam thing.
This. I know quite a few people who don't vaccinate. If they want to live in the middle of nowhere and not come in contact with other people, more power to them. However, if they want to be an active part of society then they need to share the responsibility of public health.

Sorry, I don't know how to make it clicky....mac. Anyways, while I was in my MS program for special education this was a major topic of discussion.
All I know is that if Playboy model Jenny McCarthy tells me not to get my kid vaccinated then I'm d@mn well not vaccinating!! Dr. McCarthy went to school for years to get her medical degree and she is one of the most highly respected experts on vaccinations in the....wait...

LOL. I will add I think it is pretty ridiculous to think that varicella is a "nuisance" disease. Chicken pox can be terrible and then you also have a much higher risk of having shingles as an adult, which can be seriously painful and debilitating, I've seen it. The risk of getting shingles as an adult from the vax is SO small it is hardly worth mentioning. If anyone I know ever mentions pox parties, I can't take them seriously and we most likely won't be friends for much longer.
ETA: I see a couple people addressed this in the original thread. Thank god I wasn't the only one who thought that. As for people delaying vaxes, I think it is pointless and you are setting up your LO to be unprotected for longer, but as long as they are fully vaxed before school, I'm ok with this. Especially if your reasons are because you and DH had reactions before. That makes some sense at least. There is NO proven benefit to delaying vaxes, but there are proven problems to doing so. But if it makes you feel better to not have your LO get so many at once, once again these parents don't piss me off like non vaxers do.
Yeah but hearing both sides of the vaccination debate is like hearing both side of a "The Earth is flat, the Earth is round" debate.
