When we were pregnant with LO #1, we both REALLY thought it was going to be a boy. DH and his father didn't have the best relationship growing up, and he really wanted a boy to bond with and do all those "manly" things he didn't get to do with his own father. Well, we had a girl. Of course once we found out DH got on board and absolutely loves DD to death. He's a fantastic father and is incredibly thankful that we have our beautiful little girl.
Now this time around, all we hear from everyone is boy boy boy. It HAS to be a boy obviously since we have a girl already. Because of reasons previously stated about DH's father, he would still like to have a boy, but we love DD so much that we'd be so thrilled with another girl too. I just feel like I'm the only one in our family/friends that feels that way. They're all shocked when I say I'd love another girl. We are planning to be done after LO #2 and they just can't wrap their minds around us being happy and complete if this one is a girl too.
Re: Anyone hoping for a certain sex?
I remember you from the boards when I was pg with dd. I didn't post too often and spent most my time on sept 2010 board with a different sn (c j Danielson) without spaces so Im a little more anonymous :-) anyways CUTE LO!!
But, DH and I are the same way. We would love to have a boy but, if not as long as baby is happy and healthy that's what we pray for everyday. A happy, healthy baby that sleeps preferably a boy. But, DH already asked if I was getting tied or he was getting snipped. Neither of us want more than 2 kids! People don't get that!!!
Growing up I always imagined myself having a girl, but after having DS I absolutly love having a boy! DH's family is full of boys (5 out of 6 grandkids!) all close in age, so all the cousins have such a great time when they get together. That being said, it would be nice to have a little girl this time, but either way I'll be happy!

I actually think I remember you! Danielson sounds so familiar. Congrats on your pregnancy! I honestly MAY be ok with a 3rd, but DH is absolutely done with 2. I keep telling him that if he's really done, then HE is the one getting snipped. lol After this LO I want to be a surrogate.
I'll be happy with a healthy baby.. but I think I would be lying if i didnt say I would be a we bit disappointed.
This is exactly how we are too. We really wanted a boy first to be the protective big brother lol, but of course, we'll be happy as long as it is a healthy baby. I actually already have been having the feeling it's a girl. I even had a few dreams about it!
DH thinks it would be great to have two boys in a row then a girl and then a boy. Yes...you read correctly, DH would love four kids. My mom was one or eight and his dad was one of twelve so four seems reasonable. I would prefer three. Anyway, even though we have an ideal order we are both convinced that this little one is a girl. I would be thrilled!
This is the part where you're supposed to say how wonderful it would be to just have a healthy kiddo. I agree but think its silly that everyone is trying to be so clear about it. It just seemed so repetitive and comical as I read these
Hey! I recognize you from when we had LO#1! Good to see you back here
We are almost this exactly. We have a boy, and I really want to have that mother-daughter relationship that I have with my mom with my own daughter. DH wants 3 kids anyway, but if we have 1 boy and 1 girl, I'll be more likely to push to be done at that point. We probably will go for 3 kids if this one is another boy.
We have two girls and everyone just assumes we are now "going for the boy". While having a son would be nice, DH and I would be thrilled to have another girl too since she'd have two older sisters. We didn't decide to have another child because we wanted to try for a boy - we decided to have another child because we always talked about having 3. So to answer your question, no, we are not hoping for one sex or the other just a healthy baby.

Before DS I always thought I'd have girls, or do better with girls, but my DS is so freakin' amazing that I would love to have another just like him! But, I kind of hope this one is a girl.... However, everyone is so obsessed with one boy and one girl, which I find really annoying. I hate it when people assume the parents would be disappointed if they didn't get the gender they wanted!!! It's their baby, they aren't disappointed!
I did have a dream really early in the pregnancy that this LO was another boy, but I couldn't remember his name. So maybe it doesn't count as intuition. lol.
THIS! I really want a girl. DH is convinced it's going to be a boy because everyone in his family has boys so "they don't make girls"...Ridiculous. I just hope to prove him wrong along with the fact that I want to see him with a daughter. He's macho so I think it's going to ground him if we have a girl.
haha. Yes! This has always driven me crazy!
The first time around I really wanted a girl and ended up having one. So, now I'd like either. Though, with them being so close in age, I think it would be fun if #2 is a girl too. We'll see!
I have no gut feelings either way at this point. We both just really want a healthy baby, but deep down, I think DH wants a boy and I want a girl. But it's a little more complicated than that. We want 2 kids, ideally one of each. If it were possible to guarantee this scenario, I would want this baby to be a boy and then have our girl a few years later. I think big brothers are great for a girl.
I'll be happy either way, though!
This exactly! I will take a healthy baby, girl or boy. No dreams of babies yet, but hope to have some soon

I am but not for the reasons most would. I?m hoping for a girl because the risks associated with a genetic disorder that runs in the family are lower. Boys have a 50% chance of going blind due to a mitochondrial disease called LHON (www.thegenetichouse.com) that runs in my family. My brother went legally blind at 21 years old. We didn?t know anything about it till my brother lost his sight. There have been great strides towards a cure or improvement in vision made but we are still a long way off. My brother is actively involved in a genetic study right now and may be able to get his vision back in the next 5-10 years.
DH and I would both like a boy. My gut feeling is a boy though that may be influenced by the fact I want a boy.
