So I was given an anti-hemeragic drug post delivery due to a placenta issue. Side effect is uncontrollable diarrhea. I suffered with that for about 18hrs. Not cool. So I didn't feel the need to take my stool softeners until today because on Fri my midwife said that considering the diarrhea I could try just lots of water, fiber and flax to get things moving. So today I still haven't gone so I took the softeners and my this evening it was go time...at least I thought.
I just spent 1hr on the toilet trying to relax and go, and it was right there but too large to actually come out. I had to send DH to the drug store to get a suppository laxative for me so that it would actually force it out. The I spent the next hr waiting for the laxative to work and actually going. No joke, I had a poo the size of a tennis ball come out. Now I'm as bruised and swollen as the day after I delivered despite feeling almost normal earlier today.
Moral of the story, take your stool softeners new mommas! Even if you think you don't need them!

I started the stool softeners as soon as I got home yesterday. Tonight, I felt it coming on, and was confident I'd be fine. Wrong!!! While nothing hurt coming out (I didn't even have to strain, it was so easy) they left behind this nice little grape cluster of hemis... Ugh. I frigging hate hemis.

That is the #1 thing that I remember from my last recovery, and that is the #1 piece of advice I give expectant FTMs: Keep taking your stool softeners after you get home! lol
