Need to wear a formal dress at 13w -- fashion help??

DH has a formal work event in a week and a half. I'll be 13w and change. All my formal dresses are too small now, or just look horrible because they hug the belly, and my belly is all bloat/little bump -- just generally like a beer belly instead of a cute bump to show off. Any ideas what I can do to look nice (it's ok if I look pregnant) and not frumpy? And when would you shop? If I shop this weekend (at 12w), do you think my belly will look the same a week later? If I leave it for the day of the event, I'll be a mess. Also, any style advice? Do you think I should go for a maternity dress, even though my bump won't be big (or nice and round); or just maybe an empire waist dress or something like that?

Ugh, I'm excited to go to a big formal gala, but bad timing body-wise!

I offer no advice but will be in the same exact boat as you. I started looking online for ideas and was leaning toward the empire waist route for a floor length gown (I have a black tie event to go to.... Never really been to black tie affairs other than prom in hi school!). Let me know if you find an amazing dress that isn't ridiculously expensive, and good luck!!!
