It's part of the first trimester screening, also called ultrascreen or sequential screen. The "NT scan" is an ultrasound to measure the nuchal translucency in the baby around 11 to 13 weeks. Combined with the results from a blood test, it can give you the odds of having a child with Down syndrome, trisomy 18, and (sometimes) trisomy 13. It's an optional test.

After reading what?s encompassed in having this done! I?m sure this was what was done in screening at 12 weeks - 1 day, But my doctor?s office simply called it a "dating ultrasound." This told them (as well as me) that I was measuring 12 weeks - 5 days according to both the ultrasound tech and my doctor ...
