All right ladies, people said they wanted more getting to know you questions and I thought this one up as I was eating my weird comfort food. Even before pregnancy, did you have a food that comforts you but that other people think is odd?
I have two, both from my childhood. The first is pasta with ketchup and grated cheddar. Delish! The second is applesauce with chocolate syrup and jimmies (sprinkles). Sooo amazing and I think my mother's way of trying to get fruit in me ![]()
And...go!
Re: GTKY: Weird comfort foods
This isn't weird, but I LOVE chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. It is definitely my go-to comfort food.
As far as weird things go, I dip my french fries in my chocolate milkshake. My mom taught me that one. Yummo!
Um, I just ate a whole box of Annie's Mac and cheese. Oops!
When I was little my mom taught me to eat "banana, milk & sugar". Her mom taught her when she was little. They did it cause sometimes cereal was too expensive. I haven't eaten it in years but it always reminds me of being little. It's sliced banana with milk and a teaspoon of sugar.
i do this too
My Blog on PPD and life in general**
I still love ramen and I'm way out of college years. My crazy comfort foods are mixing corn with mac n cheese or with mashed potatoes.
Deli ham with cream cheese and a baby dill pickle rolled and then cut into bite sized pieced. When I'm trying to be healthier, it's crumbled cauliflower, celery and a blnched carrot instead of a pickle.
I've also been known to nuke pepperoni slices so they get crispy like a potato chip.
I spent a few years in SE Asia and rice became my comfort food. Now when I am sick I don't want toast or chicken noodle soup. I want a bowl of rice with a little butter and salt.
I also LOVE spaghetti, but I usually eat it in a bowl with some corn. My DH thought that was weird when we got married, but guess what we both had for dinner last night!
When I was little and got sick, my mom would always make me cream of chicken soup served over toast (cut the toast up and eat it with a fork). I still love eating it today when I'm sick or just when I'm craving comfort food.
So yummy, but kind of weird!
