sleep support

My baby is now 7 weeks old and I was really thinking the nightime sleep would be better but he is still only sleeping 2-3 hours stretches with random 4 hour stretches. Is this normal for his age? When did you other moms notice longer stretches of sleep?

Re: sleep support

  • I started giving her a little more food before bed. Also when we give her a bath she screams her head off, but then sleeps 4-5 hours because she wore herself out. Also try keeping LO up longer before the last feeding of the night. I know for us, longer awake time means longer sleep time.

  • My LO is the same way, he will sleep 4-5 hours for the first portion of the night and then goes 1 1/2 - 3 hours for the next two.  I tried feeding him a little more but it didn't make a difference.

  • DD has started doing longer stretches in the last week.

DD generally does 5-6 hours for the first stretch of the night, then 3-4 hours. I attribute that to her being hungrier because she's only eaten once in 8-10 hours versus the normal 3-4 times. If that makes sense :)
