1) For those who have had an internal exam or more by now, did you bleed after? I had my first today, and I was fully expecting to bleed a little bit after, so I wore a pad. I've only had a couple of spots/clots of red blood, and I've been a bit crampy since the exam, so I was just wondering if others have had the same experience.
2) Has anyone who has already delivered (or who has had a child before) had an enema? I'm going to request one, but I haven't seen much mention of them in birth stories (probably because it's TMI... or maybe just not very popular) . If you've had one, was it uncomfortable? Would you get one again?
Re: Two unrelated questions: blood after internal exam & enemas
I havent bled after any of my internal exams but Ive been told every time that its not uncommon to bleed.
What exactly would you want a enema for?
I bled the tiniest amount, but I feel like it's only because he used a speculum to see if I had a yeast infection.
Sorry... I'm probably not that helpful for either question. I'll update you on Thursday after my next appt.
1. bleeding can be normal, but not everyone bleeds.
2. it's not really common to do enemas anymore. I was reading about that somewhere. I'm personally happy about it because usually your body clears the way before labor starts so you don't really need it, but there are happy accidents that are usually well orchestrated by the nurses to where you may not even know you had one.
TMI yes, I did have a BM incident with DD#2, but it was the nurses fault. I kept telling her I had to go, but she tried to TELL ME that it was just the pressure of the baby. I obviously proved her wrong, but to this day even though DH was in the room he doesn't know it happened.
I had 2 internals so far and I didn't bleed at all for either. However, I was in A LOT of pain and crampy.
I didn't have an enema with DS and I won't have one this time. I've never heard of anyone one (friends, family, etc) that had one prior to labor.
To get the poop out of my system so I don't poop during delivery. They used to do it as a standard years ago, but now they still do it by request at the hospital where I will deliver.
Today I've been feeling very poo filled (sorry for the TMI), so it's on my mind.
