What do you do after the umbilical cord falls off?

Okay so DS's umbilical cord is finally looking like it's starting to come off, part of it is 1/2 off and it looks all redish/pink under it and such, which I'm assuming it normal. Do you clean it with soap and water when it comes off? Alcohol?

    The ped told us to use some alcohol if it looked oozy or bled, but it only looked that way for a day so I never even had a chance to do it.

    Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH
    DH: perfect
    1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p
    2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!

    Clean it after the umbilical cord falls off. The reddish/pink should be normal. My friend used a qtip with rubbing alcohol and cleaned off any dried blood.

    I left it alone until it was done healing and he's just fine

    I just let it fall off completely and then gave her a bath.

    My LO has fleshy junk in his belly button now that the stump fell off. I've been cleaning it twice a day with rubbing alcohol. Every time I take his onsie off there is junk on it from the area. The pediatrician says it looks fine, so I trust that I'm doing the right things...I just wish it would heal for good!
