Embroidery Machine?

Hi Ladies,

I have been having several things monogrammed lately, and I'm thinking about getting an embroidery machine.  I have just started taking sewing lessons, and I'm and extreme beginner, but I really enjoy it.  Does anyone have an inexpensive embroidery machine that is easy to use, and gives good results?  Thanks in advance for your help!

Julie

Re: Embroidery Machine?

  • Do you have a sewing machine already?  I have a Brother SE 270D, which is a sewing machine that does embroidery, too!  I got it for ~$300 refurbished from a local store.

  • I do have a sewing machine, but I was still looking at that one for the price (on e-bay).  Have you used the embroidery feature?  Is it easy to monogram?  It says that it comes with 5 fonts, but I can't find out which fonts anywhere.  I would really only use it for monogramming names, and 2 letter monograms.  Thanks for your feedback!

  • I *just* tried the embroidery function for the first time tonight.  The fonts are mostly boring - san serif, serif, outline style, bold, and italic, but there is also a nice monogram font which are part of the "patterns" - i'm not sure if you can adjust the size of the monogram font, though, like you can the other fonts.  You can also use PED basic w/ this machine, which I think gives you a lot more opportunities, b/c it interfaces w/ the computer.  I think that goes for ~$125.
