Do you relax a bit while he is gone? I usually dress and do my hair and make-up daily, but when DH is gone I will do a yoga pants, no make-up day or two while he is gone. I will sometimes give myself a day off from chores too. I never think I dress or do my hair for DH, but I do like giving myself off a day here and there while he is away.

I totally relax while my husband travels. I pick up each day and make sure the basics are done but, I am not on top of things like normal. For instance I rarely cook big dinners while he is gone. I make dinner for DD each night and I'll eat whatever from cereal to a PB&J. Even if my husband is home I rarely do my hair or wear make-up. I shower and just put product in my hair and let air dry. My husband jokes that I am wearing my "uniform" when he gets home because I am always in sweats or pajama pants. Being pregnant I am much worse. I dress for comfort. If I have to run errands or take DD out I will get dressed, do my hair, and put make up on.

DH travels internationally about one week a month. The only thing I relax on is dinner - I tend to just make myself a sandwich each night. Other than that...I still dress nicely, do my hair and make up every day because I go out every day (plus, it makes me feel better - not showering/make-up/staying in PJs/whatever always makes me feel gross, probably because the only times I do that are when I am really sick). I also always keep the house clean because I love a clean house. In fact, that is one of the nice aspects of DH being gone - the house stays so much cleaner!!

No... As a rule, I don't bother with makeup, and my hair is usually up in a ponytail anyways. I'm usually in workout capris and a tank top with a sweatshirt daily. I do this because if I'm already in my work out clothes I know I'll work out that day. It's my way of making sure that I do it. And, wearing makeup almost always keeps me from working out because I HATE wearing makeup and sweating.

Also, I don't slack on chores because I know he won't be home to help me dig out of the hole that I've put myself in. I do, however, slack off when he is home because he's always there to pick up where I left off.

DH only travels for a week at a time 4 times per year, but I usually suck it up and keep myself on a pretty strict schedule. It helps keep me sane, and the time seems to go by faster when I do this. So, I keep really busy with chores and playdates and such just trying to make the week fly by so he's home "quicker."

When DH travels I like to have a stay at home day. DD and I stay at home all day, I shower but don't put on make up or "real" pants all day. We play the music too loudly (not an option when dh is home because he works from home) and don't pick up toys five times a day (I do pick up after she goes to sleep). I probably won't clean anything (but I do keep up with laundry) and spend too much time on the computer while dd naps and sleeps. I don't make a real dinner. I make something for dd and find something in the fridge or freezer for me.

This is what I am talking about. And my house seems to stay cleaner when DH is gone, so I am usually ok with taking a day off.

When DH travels, I still do my makeup and dress the same as when he's home. I do relax a bit on the housework. I still tidy up every night because I can't stand when there is stuff everywhere, but I really don't spend as much time cleaning as when he's home. We also have different types of dinners when he's away. DH doesn't like breakfast foods so we almost always have breakfast for dinner one night while he's traveling.

Haha this is exactly what I was thinking. I very seldom wear makeup or do my hair even going to town. I usually clean more thoroughly if DH is gone because he isn't here to keep asking what I need him to do. If I tell him what needs to be done it starts "Where does this go?" "What do you want me to do with this?" "Do you want to keep this?" So it is faster to clean alone and I enjoy it more.

I am kind of the opposite. When DH is away the house is usually cleaner because I have more time and I try to get the deep cleaning chores out of the way (like cleaning out the fridge or organizing closets). When DH is home I usually let the cleaning slide a bit because I spend most of my extra time just hanging out with him or going out to places as a family.

Like when he is away, I do the dishes and clean the kitchen every night, but if he is home I might just rinse the dishes and leave them for the morning so that I can spend more time hanging out with him at night.

same here. The house looks WAY better when he's not here! But I do relax on the hair/makeup. I might skip a shave and I wear sweats and my ugly undies haha

H only travels a handfull of times, if that, for work... When he does I am such a slacker! I will definitely wear comfy clothes the entire time (I do this while H is home, but I don't do it more than 2 to 3 times a week). I do no make-up unless I am going out and when I do, I wear little make-up. Laundry and picking up is done regular, but anything else is pushed back.

LoL Same here.

DH is out of town right now and we didn't have anywhere to go today. I wore yoga pants and didn't make a real dinner (grilled cheese for DD1 and I just ate some fruit). I didn't have to do nearly as much cleaning since I didn't have to pick up after DH. I did keep up on the laundry and ran the dishwasher.
