I cannot find a theme that DH and I both agree on. Can you please post some pictures or ideas from your parties. We will not have a lot of kids (maybe 5 kids) so I don't want it to be too kiddy. I wanted a carnival theme but we are in the middle of a remodel and will not be able to do it in our backyard and I don't want to do it indoors because to me it kills what I had in mind (petting zoo, bouncy). I liked the UNO party but DH doesn't. HELP! Thank you.

Re: Need Ideas! Please post your 1st Bday party pics/ideas
A petting zoo sounds like a bit much for 5 kids. Why not have it at a park? I had a family party for DH's birthday at a park one year. We rented the pavillion, I hung up a banner and some other decorations, there was a playground (for the kids) right next to it and a sand volleyball court (for the adults). We grilled burgers, brought beer, and had cupcakes. It was easy and everyone had fun.
ETA: DS's birthday is in Dec so we had an indoor party with about 20 kids at a play place. It was a safari theme because that was the theme of the play place.
We did a rubber ducky theme.
I did a duck cake. Put rubber duckies in blue punch. Had blue, yellow and white balloons, and a few duck balloons too. I bought white rubber duckies for the few kids at the party to colour on. I used a duck baby tub as a cooler for drinks. I bought little duckies to put on cup cakes, and in the middle of dips and other dishes. I used blue, white, and yellow napkins, cups, and paper plates. It was great!

We did a monster theme. It turned out so cute. We picked orange, green and blue as the colors for the party and did solid tableware. We did a huge cake though : ) Here are a couple pics. It wasn't over the top, but it was cute.

Ksyknelvr73, That is so cute! I love the pictures of your DS and his smash cake!
The rubber ducky idea is cute too!
Thank you for sharing.
We did an Elmo theme. Only a couple kids in attendance, so the theme was really just about the decorations / food. There weren't any games or activities.

We did a safari/animal theme.
These are the goodie bags -- vanilla and chocolate animal crackers (the ribbon is zebra print)
Our cupcakes - wrappers were zebra or cheetah print, I made the flag toppers -- they had animal sounds printed on them (moo, baa, meow, etc)
2 years of TTC, Seeing RE Feb 09, 2 medicated TI cycles - BFNs, 3 medicated IUIs - BFNs, back to medicated TI cycles until IVF approval, IVF approved in March 2010. BFP on last medicated TI cycle.
We did a little prince theme. It turned out really cute. We had a dragon pinata, crowns, foam swords, a big bouncy castle thanks to DH's co-worker. I made a dragon smash cake for DS. The crowns and foam swords were a hit with the adults as well, haha.
We did a vintage circus theme. We had peanuts, popcorn, animal crackers, and cupcakes. My sister's boyfriend made a photo booth for us and I provided top hats, mustaches, and clown noses. It was a lot of fun!
We had an indoor/outdoor party because we had so many people but you could easily do something like this inside.
We did a surfer theme with baby splash pools. I have a pinterest board with my ideas and also pics from the party
