Would love to hear your IUI success stories - who you went to, how many tries, over 35, TI/Clomid/injects........I know every body (literally) is different, but would just like to hear positive stories. I've only had one IUI cycle (back-to-back) with Clomid......the cycle before I was on Clomid and TI - was also on progesterone until the BFN, then RE put me on the Pill because I wound up with cysts......one week into pill pack I had a "real" period (not the 3 days post-progesterone with almost no bleeding) - I mean bleeding heavily for 4 days.....went in for a U/S and everything looked fine, so RE wanted to start the new cycle with Clomid - except she was trying to work the cycle with the IUI into her schedule so we'd have it done before her vacation. That, and her answering her phone for a family emergency during one of my IUI's (and the distance) is why I need to change RE's. Nice person but I just think I need better care with what I'm going through. I chalk my 1st IUI up to just "practice" since it just seemed not timed right at all. Anyway, would love to hear your success with IUI! Thanks! ![]()
Re: IUI Success Stories from Detroit?
I am 36 and have PCOS with IR.
I got my BFP on my 2nd IUI. I was on 1700 mg of Metformin daily (had been on this for almost a year) and 150 mg Clomid on CD 3 - 7. They put me on 100mg once a day (at bedtime) progesterone supositories after I got my BFP, I stayed on those until 10 weeks.
We did a single IUI timed off of a + OPK (no trigger shot). Our post wash sperm count was 12 million with 65% motility, 3% strict morphology.
My 7dpo P4 level was only 6.3, and we where actually making plans to move onto IVF for the next cycle (even my RE thought we didn't have a chance) when we where suprised with our BFP.
IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN
IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP!
beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75
beta #2 11/28 = 2055
Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012!
Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!
I have been diagnosed as DOR. AMH = .54; Highest FSH = 13.3. Not great numbers. But, with lots of prayer, DH and I got pregnant on our first Clomid/IUI cycle even though we were only given a 10 percent chance!!!
One thing working in our favor is DH had a really high sperm count. The put almost 200 million back in me post-wash. Also, I'm not a big fan of the monitoring with OPK's thing even though it worked for me. I actually did not trust it because I had charted so much that I knew sometimes I O'd very quickly after getting a positive OPK. Even though I told my RE's office this, they still nonetheless scheduled my IUI for about 36 hours later. Since I was dissatisfied with this and felt like it was decreasing my chances of conceiving, DH and I dtd the night of getting the positive OPK even though they tell you not to dtd within 36 hours of the IUI. There is a part of me that wonders if we got pg from that encounter rather than the actual IUI...especially now that the baby is measuring 2 days ahead.
My only point is that if you tried Clomid IUI with no monitoring (other than OPK) a time or two and it doesn't work, I would go to more monitoring. Not only will it help you to ensure that the IUI is timed well with O (which I think is a big part of the battle and where some cycles fail), but will also tell you how well you are responding.

Thanks IBackBevo. What did irk me was we did u/s up until day of trigger, but then no u/s was done to actually confirm ovulation. I am definitely going to be a bit more proactive with my monitoring from now on!
